Did you visit Bar Kitchen in Fukuoka? I heard their bar have one the best collections of Japanese Whisky's in Japan, including the Ichiro's Malt Card Series, and Karuizawa's. At very reasonable prices.

All these Costco reports have me desperately wishing the Louisville, CO location starts stocking Hibiki now that liquor laws have loosened up.

And I thought it was insanely pricey at NRT Duty Free for ~50000 JPY.

Bought Hibiki 17 from a grocery store (Seijo Ishii) when I was in Japan last week for Y12,000. It was selling for 20,000 at NRT. But, mine didn't come with a box. Haven't opened it yet. Hope it isn't a counterfeit. Do you guys think there is a chance of that?

Guys, new to this forum. I love japanese whiskey and have a goal of putting away some of these aged ones before they all disappear. Two weeks ago, Costco (No. Cali) released Hibiki 17s ($119) in small quantities to most of their branches. Found 6 at Mtn View and only got 1 thinking they would have more later but big mistake ---next day all gone. Got to talking to one of the guys re-stocking there and he said Livermore had 12, Redwood City 12, Fremont 6. I called them next day --all gone. I went to the Fremont branch anyway and was shocked to find Yamazaki 12s - two cases for $68 each. Harmonys are plentiful though. A lot of people are in the know that these aged jap whiskeys are getting harder to find and they're buying them up---I guess that was my point. Some asian grocery stores might have them. I went to a Marina Seafood store last week and found 6 Hibiki 12s ($120 orig --on sale for $99 lol --that's $40 more than Costco price but that's if u can find them) and 1 Hakushu 18 for $250. They're still around... at least for now.

I found some aged stuff at the 8-6-4 Ginza shop someone posted about earlier. 5 bottles of Yamazaki 12, but I didn't grab any since my buddy already had 5 bottles of his own. Only miniature bottles of Hibiki 17 were found at all the BIC Camera stores I went to.
