Did you visit Bar Kitchen in Fukuoka? I heard their bar have one the best collections of Japanese Whisky's in Japan, including the Ichiro's Malt Card Series, and Karuizawa's. At very reasonable prices.

Bought Hibiki 17 from a grocery store (Seijo Ishii) when I was in Japan last week for Y12,000. It was selling for 20,000 at NRT. But, mine didn't come with a box. Haven't opened it yet. Hope it isn't a counterfeit. Do you guys think there is a chance of that?

Guys, new to this forum. I love japanese whiskey and have a goal of putting away some of these aged ones before they all disappear. Two weeks ago, Costco (No. Cali) released Hibiki 17s ($119) in small quantities to most of their branches. Found 6 at Mtn View and only got 1 thinking they would have more later but big mistake ---next day all gone. Got to talking to one of the guys re-stocking there and he said Livermore had 12, Redwood City 12, Fremont 6. I called them next day --all gone. I went to the Fremont branch anyway and was shocked to find Yamazaki 12s - two cases for $68 each. Harmonys are plentiful though. A lot of people are in the know that these aged jap whiskeys are getting harder to find and they're buying them up---I guess that was my point. Some asian grocery stores might have them. I went to a Marina Seafood store last week and found 6 Hibiki 12s ($120 orig --on sale for $99 lol --that's $40 more than Costco price but that's if u can find them) and 1 Hakushu 18 for $250. They're still around... at least for now.
