Thx a lot for the tip. I will be in tokyo in a couple of weeks.
I believe it was like 13,800 for the 21 and 6,300 for the 17, but don't quote me on it.

That's a good price, considering that the price in Japan is between $120-130 these days.

In Japan right now. The bad news is that the store shelves are empty on the TK 17 & 21's (in comparison to January when it was well stocked). Everybody is telling me the same thing. There's no more aged Miyagikyo and Yoichi to create the blends. Found a couple in a Mom & Pop shops, slightly higher than the average (not crazy though). But sources tell me that Nikka might be soon announcing the end of the TK 17 & 21, while keeping the 12 and NAS. I hope they're wrong.

Hi Jigen666,

That's disappointing. I'll be in Tokyo this Wednesday. I'm thinking of making a trip to Yokohama to see if the supply is any better.

If you see any place that has Taketsuru 17 or 21, can you throw me a bone?

Thanks!

No problem! I'm not sure about Yokohama though, not going over that way. If you're OK without getting the fancy box (bottle only) you may have a better shot in the mom & pop shops.

was digging through some old receipts. this is what the NT17 was in 2012 - granted the US$ to Yen was not nearly as good as it is now...but boy, times change on price and currency fx. it was 1850 in 2007.

If anyone's seriously interested, and willing to spend the $$$....

I saw a Taketsuru 25 for 70,000 (tax free) at Tokyu Dept store in Shibuya today. Those are hard to find, but man, you can buy 4 TK21's and 1 TK 17 for less than that (assuming you can find them). But the TK 25 is a unicorn, and I've already got one, so happy hunting.

Thx for the rec on yamamoto in ebisu. Picked up a couple bottles of tk21. Tk17 all gone. I saw that tk25 too but man thats a hard price to justify.

I spent the whole day visiting don quixote, bic camera and other department stores in shinjuku, ginza, tokyo station, shibuya. Supply is bone dry for aged stuff.
