Perhaps. There was a 12 year old pure malt and two 12 year old single malts but all have since been discontinued. http://www.nonjatta.com/2015/06/The-Nikka-Shock.html?m=1

Yes, but "The Nikka 12" was one they continued production of (and I believe still do, but could be wrong)

I've had a glass. It's great. Would be a nice addition to the collection. Comes in a beautiful box as well. I'll be in Tokyo in April and hope to pick some up.

This isn't the most helpful data point since it is quite dated but...

I do have a bottle of it that I got while in Tokyo last March. I got it at the YaMaYa near the HR Tokyo. Obviously that was pre-Nikka announcement and nearly a year ago but they did have a bunch there last year.

Tokyu department store, shibuya. I just picked up yamazaki for 25,000. You have to ask it's not on display. They only give you what you ask for, I couldn't get an inventory list. I saw a yamazaki 12 and a hibiki 17.

Right off the shibuya JR exit, basement floor. Good luck

The bic camera nearby has yamazaki 12 for 9xxx, can't remember the exact price

I just saw Hibiki Harmony for 3800 at a Maruetsu in Nihonbashi.

You did not mention which yamazaki you picked up for 25,000 yen. Was it Yamazaki 18?

Thanks. I think part of my trip this time will include a tour of Nikka's distillery and hopefully may find one at the gift shop.

Found Hibiki 12 for 8900y at BIC Yurakcho, nothing older than that. I'm going to try my luck at Tokyu Shibuya and see what I can find.

Tokyu Shibuya only had Hibiki 17 left, no more 21 or Yamazaki 18. It cost 12000 yen.

Otherwise they had a Hakushu 25 or Hibiki 30 for prices way too steep for me.

12000 is not horrible. it was 8900 at Daimaru two years ago. thanks for the info.

Airport duty free is not a good place to buy whisky anymore. They actually charge more than the regular stores/online stores in Japan. I got couple bottles of The Nikka 12 for Y3900 each delivered!! This applies to Scotch as well!
