Sunrise Seto ?
Hello
Just trying to find out how to reach Tokyo on the last evening of my JR Pass (expiring 28 Apr midnight) - and managed to work out a link for Sunrise Seto train. It shows the following: http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/8344/v4o0.png Can someone help with reading what kind of seat is available (where triangle is) - obviously I need a nobi nobi seat where I can use a JR pass.... Thanks! |
Nobi-Nobi seat is on the column furthest to left, the one with a person sitting on a couch, a symbol for Shiteiseki (指定席) which is Nobi-Nobi seat. You can ride on sleeper compartments, which is on right side column the one with rectangular box with “A” and “B” which represents beds, using JR Pass. For sleeper compartments you have to pay sleeper surcharge (寝台料金) portion of the fare.

ah great so it looks like nobi nobi seat is right now available
if i could only book it now (not on 20 april:)) |
nobi nobi seats are terrible. But I guess if you are young, it might be ok.
It's thinly carpeted (but without foam under pad) single person compartment with partial partitions, such there you don't have much privacy and yet you are closeted within that space. You get 1 blanket and 1 bed sheet. No pillow. And of course the compartment is super warm. It is an experience I will not endure for a 2nd time. You can google for pictures of nobi nobi seats. |
April 29th is a holiday, Showa day. That could be a factor on how busy the train might be into Tokyo on the evening of the 28th.
