Sat, April 12
Tsukiji Market Ginza Marunouchi Imperial Palace (Not nessesarily in that order, but these locations are all close to each other) Sunday, April 13 Meiji Jingu Harajuku Shibuya Keep this order, you can walk to all of these from Shinjuku Travel to Takayama for festival. Takayama to Kyoto for 5 nights then return to Tokyo. Tuesday, April 22 Arrive late afternoon to Tokyo Roppongi - if you must, you've said you're not into clubbing, *if you find you are repelled by Roppongi head on down to Azabu Juban and wander around there instead, it's a twenty five minute walk away. Do stop off at the Mt Thabor bakery and try their Hokkaido Milk Bread (best if it is still warm) Another option (preferable to Roppongi IMO) would be to stop off at the Minato Mirai waterside part of Yokohama on the way back from Kyoto. Alternatively, there is the Ramen museum at Shin Yokohama station which is where the Shinkansen stops. It's the sort of museum that should appeal to those who love food and who don't much like museums. http://www.raumen.co.jp/english/ Wednesday, April 23 Asakusa and Sensoji *How about following this up with a trip to nearby Nippori and the YaNeSen area? EDIT TO ADD: or Kagurazaka, another charming area, as suggested below Haven't included Shinjuku as you'll be based there and can see it every evening. |
Kagurazaka is an interesting area, one of the few where Geisha still practice their art !

Thanks to all for the great advise. I now have...
Sat, April 12 Tsukiji Market- sushi breakfast and market Ginza - quick stroll to window shop down Chuo dori and maybe one oct Kabuki-Za. Imperial Palace Gardens Marunouchi and Tokyo Station - not really sure about this. Will skip it if I run short on time. Any recos for dinner here? Sunday, April 13 Meiji Jingu Harajuku Shibuya - dinner recos anyone? walking to all Tuesday, April 22 Since this is basically a half day (coming back to Tokyo from takayama) I may just stay in Shinjuku. I'll try to make it to Nakajima for lunch and then just explore the area into the evening. Wednesday, April 23 (last full day) Asakusa and Sensoji Kappabashi Kagurazaka (again, any recos for food? Might be nice to end the trip with something other than Japanese food) I am realy looking forward to this trip and thanks for all the help so far. |
While not a dinner recommendation I would suggest trying the Harajuku Gyoza if you are in that part of the city on a Sun.
