Duty Free and Connecting @ NRT help

does anyone know if I purchase some booze @ LAX will they allow me to take it on my NRT-HKG connecting flight? Layover is 1hr+ and checked bag isnt being claimed @ NRT as Im connecting onward on UA to HKG immediately.Flying UA LAX-NRT

Ive been asked to bring someone some DF back with me and no sense buying it if they will take it away from me @ NRT. Last I remember NRT,HKG and SIN were more $$ then LAX, but I will be connecting @ NRT both ways to/from LAX

I'm afraid you'll be forced to throw away all liquids bought in the States:

Thanks!!! Guess either he will have to settle for Johnny Black if UA has it NRT-LAX (I can put it into my checked bag @ LAX when rechecking it) or I will price out what some others are at DF NRT but I think I remember from last yr that DF @ NRT was anything but cheap

You can't buy DF at NRT and board a flight on UA to either HKG or LAX, as there is secondary screening on the jetway at NRT for all US-bound flights and all non-US flights operated by a US carrier. They will confiscate anything over 100ml on the jetway even if purchased in the airport duty free store.

Do they have a system to deliver duty-free purchases on board (as is done in American airports)?

Do they have xray machines there like at MUC? Ive taken DF with me at certain airports since all they do is ask and since I usually board in Group1 and just saying No, usually gets the hand motion telling me to move on along with have a nice flight.

But from what I remember DF @ NRT for booze wasnt the best deals out there and for so little savings not worth the schelp

Actually, my observation of the American system is that one generally walks past a desk immediately before the jetbridge, and someone shouts at you: "COLLECT YOUR DUTY FREE PURCHASES HERE. DUTY FREE. DUTY FREE. COLLECT YOUR DUTY FREE. LET US SHOUT AT YOU ONE MORE TIME TO REMIND YOU YOU'RE IN AN AMERICAN AIRPORT. DUTY FREE".

But back on topic ... no. They give you your purchase at the store and you carry it onto the plane. End of.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.6; en-gb; GT-I9210 Build/GINGERBREAD) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Hope I am not posting it too late but if you arrive into hkg before 10pm, there's duty free shop on arrival air side for you to by duty free to save the hassle. (of course assuming the one you are getting is not US only booze)
