HND - NRT at night
I've read several posts on this situation and can't really find a definite answer which pertains to the flight I just booked. Due to availability I had to book a Delta award ticket into HND and then a separate *A reward out of NRT. The Delta flight arrives at 10:30 in HND.
Does anyone have experience with this particular flight? There is no real rush to get to NRT as the flight the next morning I booked was at 9:50, but I'd like to get over there as early as possible and get a hotel and get to the lounge early enough to take a shower before leaving. Thanks! |
Overnight in Haneda Airport
The International Terminal lounges are open 24 hours with showers and sofas for napping. You can refer below link

If it's a 10.30am arrival, you can either take a bus directly to NRT or go into central Tokyo for some sightseeing and then get a train to NRT. You might find a day in Tokyo more interesting than a day in Narita. If it's a 10.30pm arrival, you really don't have much time to waste. I think you should be able to get a train to central Tokyo, then it's probbaly too much hassle to get to NRT, so you should stay somewhere like Ueno, (See below).

For a 9.50am departure next day, I suggest that you stay at one of the following locations: (1) an airport hotel (10 minutes from the terminals by shuttle bus) (2) a hotel in the town of Narita (10 minutes from the terminals by train) It's also possible to stay somewhere near Ueno station - 40 minutes train ride from the airport, but I think the Narita options make sense if you want to relax in the lounge before your flight. |
Assuming OP is getting into HND at 11PM (10:30PM) and this is the DTW-HND flight? (as the LAX flight arrives in the AM).
My suggestion is to stay somewhere near Shinagawa; any catch the NEX (or regular trains to NRT) in the morning. Getting in at 11PM is REALLY tight to make any trains into Narita (airport or Narita Town); and I see very few buses into NRT....please someone correct me if I'm wrong... NEX 1 is 6:05AM out of Shinagawa and NEX 3 is 6:17AM. Trying to get to Narita may be a major issue and you may get stuck at Chiba :) Would love to hear any perspective from locals who tried to get to NRT late at night. (past midnight from central Tokyo) Really silly that there is no midnight bus from HND-NRT |

as long as i can get close to NRT im not opposed to a cab...I've just read about cabs being pricey and i know how far narita is from the city... sorry about the confusion and thanks for the help! |

If you want to shorten your morning journey somewhat, you could take the monorail and a local train to, say, Ueno station. On balance, though, I think that's not as attractive as the simplicity of the Shinagawa option. (And the hotel options are worse). Another option - Take a limousine bus from Haneda to the Tokyo City Air Terminal (TCAT) at 23.15 or 00.15. Stay at the Royal Park Hotel, which is across the road. Next morning, take another limousine bus from TCAT to NRT. I am not a fan of the bus, but it works... |
