5500 yen per head? Better off go for toyoko-inn for a proper room given it's not that much of difference LOL

it's not too capsule. u've got some space for urself AND it's in Namba... except it's only good for 1 person/room.

A Dormy Inn room in Namba was only 5,500 yen when I was there in Nov. I would choose that over the "First Cabin" on any day :D

how often is non smoking room is free of smoke in japan?

At few ocassion I sleep in a smoking room of Toyoko-inn and my allergic nose does not complain, and the other time when I head to non-smoking room, for sure they don't have any trace of it.

I''d be more worried about building code violations than cigarette smell at the Toyoko-inn. I have an allergy to being trapped in a fire.

Yeah. Because removing a fire exit to fit in an extra room in Japan doesn't carry the same risk as it would in another country. After all, it's not like Japan has unpredictable events like earthquakes and such that might cause a fire or some other incident that would necessitate a building evacuation. That just wouldn't happen. That's probably why there's never been a major hotel conflagration that resulted in many deaths in Japan.

I believe jib71 san knows about the tragic fire at Hotel New Japan in 1982.

It killed 32, more than half were foreigners.
