JL003 - Removed from Schedule
Have a trip in Oct - JFK-HND-KUL. The 1:25am departure from JFK was perfect for us. But it seems that flight has been removed from the schedule.
The afternoon departure does not work well with trying to catch morning/afternoon flights to KUL. Now requires an overnight in Tokyo (oh darn
). but also will cost lost 2 days of our vacation.
Any thoughts if they'll bring 003 back?

The October schedule is now more or less considered final, so that flight will not be reinstated. It actually has not operated since 2020- its resumption just keeps getting pushed back with each schedule change.
Keep in mind that for the time being, if you are a foreigner, you cannot enter Japan without a visa, so if you have an overnight connection at HND, your only options would be the airside transit hotel (if it is reopen by then), or just staying in the terminal. (Of course, this could change by October.)

What flight to KUL are you trying to match with, JL only has codeshare from HND to KUL, and MH37 at 00:25 seems to be in the October schedule though I can't see that it has operated recently.

JL723 is from Narita, until the borders reopen, that is not a possible connection. All people entering Japan needs a visa, and transit visas are not currently issued. Unless you have a Japanese passport or residency.
I do have some hope that it might be possible by October. Though lots of people would not share my hopes.

Best thing to do now is think about what alternatives you have if this ends up being an impossible connection. Maybe JL can route you on AA to another gateway (like DFW) for a JL flight from the US- NRT.

Considering the relatively slow rebound of international traffic to Japan. Last I saw data it was only back up to around 50% of pre pandemic, there may be reason to guess that they will not add JL3/4 back. Especially as they are already doing daily Haneda plus the Narita flights, so in reality getting quite close to prepandemic capacity.

In case I wasn't clear, all three of us are on different reservations.
Many thanks.

Our family of three have flights booked in May, two paid J tickets, and one Alaska Air award, also in Business on JL 3. All of us are staying in Japan for a week and then going on to DEL. I'm guessing the paid J will be moved to the another flight on JL metal, but what about the AS award? Is there any way to combine these reservations, so they don't separate us? Is there anything I can do proactively since the flight will most likely not resume (at least by May)?

I used Alaska miles to book JAL F. I just had my JL 3 flight "schedule changed." I found the flight I wanted, JL 5 for the previous day, and called up Alaska. The phone rep mentioned she had to get tech support to make the change but in reality, they had to ask JAL to open up an F seat for me. A day and a half later, my itinerary showed as changed to the flight I wanted. Once JL 3's suspension gets extended to May (if it does), that'll allow you to change flights. It may take a couple of days but it'll work out in the end.

IME AS has been good contacting their JL representative to open up space for award booking reaccomodation in the event of IRROPS. Although this is a better suited question for the AS forum found here:

I hope JAL or Alaska will proactively inform of a cancelation.

AsiaMiles booking
I was on an award reservation on a cancelled JL3 flight booked on AsiaMiles for March. They put me on the later flight the same day. But Id rather go the day before (or even the day after). I called AsiaMiles and they said no availability. Any suggestions on how to get them to move me a day?
