Coronavirus travel waiver / service changes

Do you think JL will issue travel waiver sooner?
I won't go to Wuhan, but I have flights LAX-TYO-PEK this weekend...
I called JL yesterday, but they told me I could cancel if I pay $500 fee to get a refund.

Unlikely to be issued for all cities in China before your flight.

There is currently no travel advisories in place for China, and as far as I can see no countries warns/advice against travel to China. Mainly common precautions like hygiene, don't go to livestock or meat markets, etc.

No reason yet for the airlines to start having waivers in place.

JL doesn't fly to Wuhan....PEK is not Wuhan, so no freebies there.

Offered waiver from cancellation/refund penalties. Must not be good for so many festivities to be cancelled and major tourism destinations to be closed.

The waiver was issued today 1/24, but I cancelled mine yesterday and my departure was today... I paid $500 to cancel my air ticket to get a refund...
I hope JAL will refund the $500 if I complain...

the waiver is for date change not for refund. It says “not allowed” under refund eligibility.

There is zero medical reason to make staff in Japan wear masks. But I guess it it is one of those we have to pretend to do something actions.

Here’s the waiver you have been waiting for. It covers mainland China and HKG. Tickets can be canceled or changed once without fee
