SEA-NRT Aircraft change

I fly between SEA and Asia on JAL and the aircraft has been the B 788 with the 787 Sky Suite since the route was restored. I am booking a December 2020 trip and see the aircraft was been switched to the B767 with the Sky Suite seat in business class. Does any know or have insight why the aircraft has been switched?

Thank you

We don’t even have summer 2020 schedule and you are asking about winter 2020 already? A lot can change till schedule is announced and you should just treat the schedule and aircraft as placeholders for now.

One possible reason is the route is underperforming and they have to downgrade it to SS6.

Yes, when you try to book December 2020 flights, JL68/67 show as a 767 equipment. So, that is what is filed for now.
It might change to some other aircraft when winter 2020 schedules are announced sometime in the summer.
As to why, there are enough reasons why. Winter expected passenger demand, aircraft utilization, etc.
You should instead be asking yourself, either accept the 767 direct flight, or reroute yourself via SFO/LAX to get the 777s.

J in the 767 is fine with me. A flight is a journey in a metal tube at 35,000 feet. For me, it is not worth traveling to another city to use a different aircraft for the trans pacific flight. Thanks to all for their response.
