Upgrading JAL award flight booked through Qantas

Is it possible to upgrade from premium economy to business class for JAL award flight booked through Qantas? NRT - JFK route if that makes a difference. I know you can upgrade paid flights (not sure on JAL award flights booked directly with airline) but not sure if you can if you did it through a partner airline. There seems to be some conflicting information online. Thanks a lot!

You will have to ask QF since this is their ticket and fare rules that dictate whether you can upgrade

It will fall under Qantas's rules for changing an issued award tickets to a higher class should availability show up.

JAL does not offer paid upgrades from PY to J. Mileage yes. So even for a revenue ticket options to upgrade are quite limited.
