How to book an award ticket that has a leg via codeshare?

I'm looking to book an award ticket from Japan where I'm based, to Philadelphia. For most airlines, you can just type in your destination and they do the work for you, but for award tickets with JAL it looks like only JAL metal can be booked for standard awards? I often fly this flight for work, usually flying from Narita to DFW, then flying American from DFW to Philadelphia. Is there anyway I can book this ticket as an award flight? Otherwise I'm stuck flying to JFK and legging it from there.

Thanks!

IIRC you cannot book one with mixed operators. The alternative is a partner award on AA but it has to be all AA.

Thanks for the feedback.

Anyway, I'm not going to get a flight arriving in Philadelphia. I just found 5 (!) tickets were released in first class, CTS > HND, NRT > JFK for 70,000 miles! Woo!
