Premium Econ cash airport upgrade - check in or gate?
 
Hi there - flying JAL for the first time tomorrow, booked using AA miles. Reservation is an AA flight to JFK, then JL flight (not codeshare) but all on AA ticket.

Can you request the Premium Econ airport upgrade at the gate? Or only the check in counter? I have a tight connection and hoping to skip the CI counter.

Either way is fine, but as you will be changing terminal in JFK, you will probably get very close to the check in counter as you arrive at T1.

Definitely check in counter. At the gate...that would be rolling dice (and make you use unnecessary time at the gate).
