New international wi-fi provider from May 1 2019?

Just got an email saying the service desk will switch from T-Mobile to Panasonic from May 1 2019. So I guess JL is switching international wi-fi provider. Hopefully it will improve reliability and speed?

Yes!!! Im currently landing from a long flight with the nearly useless Wi-Fi and was just about to post to ask if there were any rumors about upgrades. I really hope this is true and cant wait if so!

With this and Pre✔︎, its a good year!

Just got off JL33 yesterday HND-BKK, and I must say after having just flown 9 sectors on JAL domestic (JTA to be precise), the wifi on the international flight was so slow that it was almost unusable whilst the free wifi on domestic was lighting fast and as good as at home.

Hope the switch may bring about some changes to speed!

I have had fairly good WiFi on SGN and DME recently. Supporting VPN and company systems without problems

I get to test the new provider Wednesday. Let's see how it works out.

Wi-Fi on HND-JFK last October was useless. Hopefully the new system will be better.

If it's being changed on a single day, it sounds more like only the customer management and ground station to internet portion is being changed, not aircraft-satellite-ground station part (which I would assume has been the bottleneck).

The wifi on the A350 on Cathay was definitely more usable and was through Panasonic Avionics so there is hope if the provider makes a difference.

It is still the same t-mobile portal that is used for log in.

Will update on stability and speed later.

I had forgotten how bad the Pacific crossing is for coverage. I think t-mobile has just ignored the coverage over the seas. Flying to Moscow is much better. And once we approached the California coastline everything was good again

Don't think the wi-fi on JAL is any better any where. Flying between MEL -> HKG on CX was heaps better than MEL -> NRT on JL. The fact that all the traffic gets routed to Germany doesn't help but I think there is more to it than just that.

Will this impact those logging in via roaming partners (eg Boingo)?
