Free upgrades for JAL Diamond
 

I am a JAL Diamond into my 3rd year.
Recently I had purchased a return air ticket from NRT to PUV.
First (not-so) surprise : I could select Premium Economy seats.
(not-so surprise as I had experience the same for my previous flight from HND to PEK)
Second surprise : I was able to select seats from Business Class.

Any promotion that I am not aware of??

I guess you meant PVG.
Expect some preferential treatment. Check your ticket, you might have been upgraded to C.

If you are booked in B or Y there are often campaigns that allow you to try PY. Considering the price of these fare buckets, it is quite reasonable.

The chances of getting upgraded on these fares are also pretty good.

If you are on lower booking classes, just be happy, this is not very usual.

Just to share what happened.
It was a flight where JAL sold seats in C and PE as Economy.
Basically Premium seats with Economy meals at Economy price.
It was a great deal!

What route where you on?

NRT to PVG.

Since JAL does not actually sell PE on the Narita to Pundong route, that explains the availability of the PE selection.

I would guess that the 787-9 size business cabin is alps not needed, so they might as well sell the rear J cabin as Y seats if needed.
