Fugu Blowfish in JAL F
Just seen the menu for an upcoming LHR-HND and surprised to see 'Natural Blowfish Sashimi from Shimonoseki pickled in Japanese Sake Lees' in the snack options. I'm sure its all good but its still surprising to see a famously poisonous fish being served on an aircraft. Anyone seen this before, or tried it??

In 2008 I had steamed fugu as the main course on JL in F and it was delicious.
The route was SFO to NRT. |

Not the other way around? I'd be very surprised if they served it ex SFO
The seating in F was 2x2 in an old configuration 747. My seatmate was a prominent Japanese executive who engaged me in conversation throughout the entire flight. He flew this route in F every two weeks for years – so the crew treated him like a VIP. They were very surprised that he was being so friendly to a Gaijin, and made a big deal that I was "brave" enough to try the fugu. The fish was just OK, and I probably would have enjoyed the waygu beef more. It was a great flight nonetheless. |
i had it for hndcdg :o but yeh, i liked it very much
