If that was not the case, why would it be relevant to announce the closing of showers in a section that has already been announced to close around now?And send people to the Sakura lounge showers?
I assume they are doing partial closure of the 3rd floor F lounge instead of closing the entire floor at once. Shower rooms will be there from mid July and then dining area will be closed till fall?

Yeah, but it still means we are not getting something new on the 4th floor Just something refreshed...

I almost never went to the 4th floor. And a lot of people react the same way, 3rd floor or satellite building. I don't really know if there is space enough to make one F lounge up there to have the capacity for both But since it is under utilised it does feel like a wasteful use of the square meters

Maybe adding a sushi bar could help, or something else to set it apart. Let's see.

Suspect people just don’t know there’s one up there. Or just like me who skip because we know it’s a tiny room with nothing special

Not that price always equates to quality but if you guys had to rate the sushi at the NRT FCL, what you would say each piece is worth?

Deciding to transit between either NRT or HND on JL.

Hi,

How many pieces can you eat??

What is the connection time at NRT and HND
At NRT you could also try the satellite F terminal and the AA and Qantas lounges ( the Cathay NRT lounge is poor IMHO) or with a long enough layover you could have a quick trip into Narita Town
At HND you also have the J lounges and the Cathay lounge ( quite good) or with a longer stop over go landside , visit the shopping street and the outside observation deck or take the Tokyo Monorail or rail lines and have a quick trip into tokyo

Regards

TBS

Whoa lol, and I thought I was crazy about their sushi. Definitely not enough to route via NRT for it though It depends if you're lucky and you even have the decent ones on the menu - remember that toro is only on maybe once every three weeks or so (check the menu on JAL's website).

Also are you asking for North American prices or Japanese ones? Toro was $16 per piece in Vegas and it was about 10 times worse than the one at Narita, but if you compare to other sushi shops in Japan, then they're about "a bit better than" average.

At some point, I'd almost recommend routing via HND so you can see the JAL Red Room - the memorabilia from their old planes is actually worth looking at, it's kind of cool, and the Laurent Perrier room is neat. Plus the setup is cool, especially if you're with a friend who plays foosball. (JL F lounge, back room all the way at the end of the lounge).

I would say it is equal to a decent kaiten place. It is nice, I do enjoy it, but it is less than 200 yen for two pieces if you buy something similar in Tokyo.

Thanks for your responses - they are all excellent points! My apologies for forgetting to mention I've been to the HND FCL so that's less of a mystery for me. While the teppanyaki dish is satisfactory at the HND FCL, I wouldn't say that it's amazing. Last time I flew J with JL, I was blown away by the quality of the Japanese set.

Personally I won't value lounge that much for my connection. First thing first is convenience, ie time of departure and arrival. I do like the sushi station in NRT but I would not say it's a must place.

In the evenings, I find the teppanyaki offerings better than the sushi. In the mornings the verdict depends on whether we are in a sweet or savory menu period. Savory, then better, sweet then sushi in NRT wins.
