I wonder if JAL will get rid of the discounted upgrade on LAX-KIX with this upgrade. Given it's the horrible SS III seats, I am hoping the discount will stay.

Would KIX LAX change not trigger a similar change on other routes, that routes used to be part of a quite complex pattern of flights for the air frames....

Considering the route gains a fair amount of J seats, that should help the discounted upgrade to stick.

Seems Taiwan <-> KIX route is a bit over supply.
I got two awards seats on JL816, not difficult to redeem due to two JL daily flights.

More that a flow like NRT-BKK-KIX-TPE-KIX-LAX-KIX-BKK-NRT seems to be quite normal for an airframe So either JAL changes the scheduling patterns dramatically, or the change will affect far more routes....

actually i think it is losing 2 business class seats. I suspect JL will be using E92 which only has 28 SSII Seats on this route.

they probably will change the rotation. See how KIX-HNL will be SS9II too?

Cutting 787+738 to just 738 seems like an overkill for TPE, but KIX-LAX being upgraded is a good move.

I think the discount will likely continue cause now there is even less flights to do direct connections via KIX to LAX.

The flights for the additional ORD rotation is v interesting:

JL8056 NRT-ORD 5:55p - 3:55p x257
JL8055 ORD-NRT 1:00p - 3:55p+1 x136

apparenly that 788 will be staying in Chicago for almost 24hrs...

also isn’t 777-200ER (almost) same as SS2? from what I can recall all 772 fleet (except JA709J for now) are lie flat. can we safely assume the TSA flights are lie flat by the time of ac change?

No, 777-200ER listed above means shell flat only

Yeah, I was somehow thinking of SSIII not II. Too many skysuite types. ... Haha

Though they still need to do some massaging of the rotations.

actually it’s my typo and they are SSIII seats on SS9II LOL They have a SS9II config with less Business (SSIII seats) and Premium Economy seats now.

probably NGO-HNL can be added to the rotation too (don’t quote me I haven’t checked the schedule )

if SEA rumor is true, we should see the announcement in a few months, assuming they want to start in early summer 2019 schedule

If it is Seattle I'll probably still be a tad disappointed Interestingly, Delta does not seem to take action on their "threats" of cancelling PDX NRT. Might give an effect to the decision as well.
