JAL, LAX->NRT allowed to check in hours before departure?
I fly often out of LAX, but live in San Diego; so to avoid a lot of time/frustration in transit and time off of work, I typically take the first available train up to LAX, then I try to get a boarding pass and head through security before parking myself in a lounge, where I work remotely until my departure time. I've never actually flown JAL before, so I was wondering if anyone here happened to know how long before departure will they actually issue boarding passes? I know they allow you to print boarding passes from home in certain situations, but for various reasons this may not work for me.
I've been burned once before by BA, arriving at 6am for a red-eye flight that night and they told me they wouldn't issue me a boarding pass until the afternoon, so I worked from a landside food court until then (not ideal), so if JAL and other airlines have a similar deal going then I may have to make alternate plans. I tried giving JAL a call but their service line is jammed up pretty good. Sakura blossom season I guess?

This question is about Japan Airlines procedures, not LAX, so I'll move it to the JAL forum.

You may be able to get a boarding pass earlier from the check-in kiosk at TBIT. At least it is worth a shot if you are there early, anyway.
Another reason to love SIN, they have early check-in counters set up for all the OW airlines in the departure hall. Such a service does not exist at LAX, at least not in TBIT. Nor is it offered by JAL in one of their main airports, KIX, but that is another story. And the USA JAL phone lines always seem to be tied up. I have called a few times in the last few months, and there is always a long wait.

2 years ago, my itinerary was ABQ-LAX-SFO-HND AA-JL with 13+hr layover at SFO to explore city. Single ticket using AA miles. Not only AA couldn't check-in JL flight but baggage couldn't go through so I had to pay for luggage storage at SFO. AA agent told me it could be due to the different date (JL flight was after midnight) but thing could have improved since then. And your situation isn't exactly the same (AA coded). Usually you can't predict what will happen until you checkin at the airport.. and phone agent isn't accurate in such situation.
