International flight with 2 days stopover baggage allowance.

International flight with 2 days stopover baggage allowance.
If I book an international flight from NA to Japan, it will allow 2 bags @ 23kg. However, domestic flights only allow 1 20kg checked bag. If I have a stopover on one booking, do the baggage limits apply to both segments?
I know that if I'm connecting, the 2 bag 23kg policy is honored domestically, but I'm not sure when there's a stopover involved.

Also, does that apply on the return? I just want to make sure it doesn't apply only for layovers ( less than 24 hours ). I assume that as long as it's on one ticket, baggage allowance is okay?

It applies to your entire journey because you are departing from US/Canada.
