No more Salon from 2018?

JAL Group - PRESS RELEASES - JAL Unveils First and Business Class Wine and Japanese Sake Selections International Flights for Fiscal Year 2018

JAL is listing "LOUIS ROEDERER CRISTAL 2009" as its flagship champagne for 2018 although the table title states March 2018. Looks like this is replacing Salon as previous press release has Salon on it which is missing from the FY2018 one.

I can't be surprised, they have been burning through Salon vintages faster than the house can turn them out. The 2006 is not in retail yet.

I did expect this to happen.

all those award grAAbers and award grASpers didn’t help either. JAL F used to be more exclusive. Or perhaps this is how they recover the millions of dollars lost to fraud

but it’s unclear whether salon will be replaced in Jan or Mar. The press release is very confusing.

Cristal is not that much cheaper than Salon. But at least they picked something that is not common among other carriers. I guess the lack of clarity is due to a gradual transition as stock runs out.

I am not Cristal fan. But I am fairly sure I can suppres the gag reflexes long enough to drink it....

Darn! I was looking forward to trying the Salon. I've had LRC before and it didn't leave me impressed.

Salon was good. Maybe overestimated.
Cristal is perfectly good. Just more mainstream.

Alongside Cristal, JL will also be serving Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill in F as the second non-'Flagship' champagne during 2018. Whilst the loss of Salon is unfortunate that's two seriously good champagnes to choose from - I'm looking forward to a taste off of the two

The 2009 Cristal has been rated between 95-97 points by most major reviewers.

Retail price is around $200.

Not a bad replacement for the Salon.

Something is wrong with their calendar cause the Bollinger Rose - limited edition is the one listed for 2018 Jan-Feb., but on the press release that's suppose to be fore 2018 Dec-2019 Jan.
