I'm on 2 separate tickets, JL and SQ in Economy. JL ITM-NRT-KUL / SQ KUL-SIN.
Gonna try my luck and ask at ITM to see if JL is willing to check my baggage through to SQ all the way to SIN. If not, I will handcarry. Will print out my SQ boarding pass so I don't have to exit/enter immigration at KUL (super long queues nowadays).

I was also upgraded from PE to C on the NRT-KUL sector due to PE being oversold. What a pleasant surprise! It was SSIII on the B789.

Agent at the JGC Counter tagged my baggage all the way to SIN and even printed a boarding pass (which I didn't need since I had printed the boarding pass beforehand). I double checked my FFP number at the KUL gate, they printed a new boarding pass for me as well. Glad I didn't need to exit/enter immigration...

OT: Year end peak season is one of the few times of the year that's relatively easy to score an op-up but usually I wouldn't want to risk it

I'm planning travel TYO-PVG on JL arriving around noon and connecting to PVG-LAX on DL departing around 9pm.
Based on the interline data in Expertflyer and the above anecdotes, it seems JL should be able to interline our bags. We're planning to leave PVG during the layover, if possible. 9 hours seems far too long to spend in the airport.

How about flying JL NRT-DEL and then connecting to separate EY ticket DEL-AUH-LHR: would JL check my bag all the way through London?
Connection is ~10 hours, but I'd rather not have to get a visa only to check one bag.
If it makes any difference: OWE flying in Biz on all three segments.

Just a data point. I had an award flight from NRT-KUL on JAL followed by a paid MH ticket from KUL-PEN.
JAL checked my baggage through to PEN and issued my boarding KUL-PEN boarding passes as well.

That would be Oneworld to Oneworld, and that is clearly stated by Japan Airlines to be within policy. So the surprise would only be if it did not happen.

I'm flying SYD-xNRT-BOS (booked through Asia Miles) in J and going to buy a separate ticket for BOS-YYZ on AC in Y. Does anyone have experience with JL ground agents in SYD or the transfer desk at NRT adding on an AC/interline partner segment so the bag is checked to the final destination. This would hopefully save me baggage/overweight fees on the AC flight. STA into BOS is 1700 and STD for the next flight is 2045, will have to transfer from Terminal E to B to drop off the checked bag and board the AC flight.

My bag was checked all the way through London, even though the BPs couldn't be issued at NRT for the EY segments [as expected].
JL organised [without me asking] that airport staff at DEL was waiting with a sign with my name - escorted me to the transit zone and arranged that BPs [I have checked in on my phone, but was only given AUH-DEL mobile BP] were printed for me.
Then someone else escorted me to the Premium Plaza lounge [with boarding passes they brought the lounge invite as well].
I wasn't really expecting any of that - thought I'd be queueing with everyone else at the transfer desks - I think it helped I was flying in J [and OWE and arrived to NRT in F].
Not sure if it was an one-off exception, but definitely pleased it went well.

I am rather amazed at the JFK-NRT-DEL-AUH-LHR routing. It is a slight detour from the most direct JFK LHR options.
