There hasn't been any schedule updates in a while it seems? We are traveling NRT-BOS in February 2016. What do you think the odds are of getting sky suites? Or are there some routes that may never get them since apparently the shell seat planes will not be converted?

You probably won't get any more update till winter schedule is announced

based on people's experience here, what would be the best seats for a couple on SS8? It looks like the middle pair wins if you want to talk to your travel partner but after spending 8 days in SE Asia....

Note that the press release states NRT-DME SS8 service wills start from Feb 3 2016 but the route info page only shows SS8 from Feb 3 - Feb 29 2016.

Seat desirability question. I see that the 2 aisle seats on the side have some storage room. I also see that the 2 aisle seats in the middle do NOT have storage room. However, I can't tell if the 2 window seats have storage room. Do they? They seem to have what looks like a tray on the top of the back of the seat.

Traveling solo. Any seat recommendation?

You will need to stand up to access your storage in the window seat. If that's a deal breaker then pick any C or H, otherwise window seats are good for solo travelers.

Need SkySuite at YVR

Really really need the SkySuite for NRT-YVR route. Will that ever happen?

I thought NRT-YVR was on a lie flat 767? Was it ever? If it was, why did they change it to older seats?

I notice that NRT-YVR is now scheduled for a 788 in 2016, but with the old seats. Any possibility this route is going SkySuite?

Yes, it was SS6 for a time, but that got pulled.

Frankly in my opinion, YVR is low on the North American totem pole for JL. It's also a shorter flight, so not having lie-flats isn't as bad on that route, so the SS-planes will be used where it matters most.

Manilla gets SS6, so it is not really distance based decision....

I guess the real question is, can it be likely that JAL will have any 788s that will continue to have the old seats, does that make any sense?

... it's also almost 3000 miles shorter, which is great for tag on flights instead of having an aircraft idle on the ground in between its long-haul legs. YVR is barely long-haul, while there are other longer routes where lie-flat is almost necessary.

For the one flight to Manilla the plane overnights in MNL airport, for the other rotation the plane is departing at 9:30am from Narita and is back at 8pm so not really tag on operations for the planes.

For two people traveling together in J (DFW-NRT), are the middle seats the way to go?
