Or just because of the smaller premium cabin means not cost effective to carry that many options (and don't have them out of stock most of the time). Almost no point of offering the extra ramen if it only carries 4 of them like CX did with its burger snack

787-9 (SS9) Seat Config is also out and first flight will be NRT-CGK JL725/726 from 01Jul.
This means that the 1st 787-9 originally scheduled for Apr delivery will be delayed while the 2nd 787-9 will be sometime Nov.

Total seats 195 (44C/35PY/116Y) which I think would become the roomiest/least dense 787-9 around.

NRT-SYD is going back to the 772 from March 29, thus ending F on that route as well. Here's the English press release: http://press.jal.co.jp/en/release/201501/003202.html

The SS9 rollout and SS7 maintenance might have to do with this. It is about time JAL perform those maintenance which we usually see JL725/726 lose 777-300ER service. We haven't seen that for a while.

Hey at least NRT-MNL SS6 is official now

NRT-MNL SS6 partially happy as the ...... airport/system spoils whatever nice flight experience you have.

My gut feel tells me they will announce soon the gradual refurbishment of 772ERs/W51 this year as I notice they will have spares available with all these aircraft changes...crossing my fingers... But then it might not make it in time for my biz trip....

I hope YVR will get SS8 especially given that ANA is going 787 in July to YVR. So is AC, I believe.

Has JAL made any official announcement re refurbishment of existing 787s? Looking at KIX - LAX in March of next year and wondering what product we may have.

Nothing for now expect NEO seats. Don't think JL is getting too many 787s this year and I wouldn't put LAX on the top of the list unless KIX-LHR is resumed.

Just to be clear:

Is it correct that the only 787s with the SS8 flat-seats are the newly-delivered 787s, and that no plans have been announced to retrofit older 787s with the SS8 seats?

Yes according to the plan when SS8 was announced but JAL said it may change in the future
