Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?

Sorry I have no idea. But the online check-in systems for domestic and international flights are different. There's no OLCI for domestic flight. You just pick your seats, print the 2D barcode and go to the airport on day of departure. So I assume the answer is no unless you get a way to print out the 2D barcode beforehand.

They should be able to assign you a seat over the phone. But since it's an Avios redemption, you might want to check with the BA folks. They probably have more experience on this.

Award tickets are issued for round-trip travel. The cities of departure and return must be in the same area or within the same country.
The part I am a little bit confused about is they gave an example of NRT-SIN//SYD-NRT where award levels differ. But SIN and SYD belongs to different area. So you might need to call JAL to ask them their definition of area if your cities don't belong to the same redemption zone.

3 questions to enlighten me if you please.
Why is there no J class on HND - ISG? Seems an obvious one for such a long internal flight.
Is there a JAL lounge of any description in ISG?
Do BA passengers in F have use of a seperate F lounge or in NRT?
As always, thanks in anticipation.

Unfortunately ISG is a tiny airport. There's no JAL domestic lounge.
While HND-ISG is the longest scheduled domestic flight, it does not have class J service. It is operated by JTA and load factor is usually just around 50%. JAL/JTA probably believes they can make more money by deploying the 734 with class J somewhere else. It's more about yield than flight length. I suggest try to get the exit row for more legroom? Or given the load is usually low, you might be able to get the entire row to yourself if you sit in one of the regular rows with movable armrests.
There's no equivalent of Concorde Room at NRT. F passengers and ow Emerald shares the same F lounge.
Enjoy your stay in Japan

JAL Domestic Flight Booking
I need to buy RT HND-OKA flights and noticed while researching pricing that the fares were $400pp less on the JAL Japan Domestic website (http://www.jal.co.jp/en/dom/) VS. The Americas booking site (http://www.ar.jal.com/arl/en/).
Two questions:
1) Will I be able to confirm the booking on the domestic site for the cheaper flights without having a Japan billing address?
2) If so, I noticed on the domestic site, even in the English version, they parse the names as family name || given name - which makes sense if you are Japanese, but this means my name is getting confirmed as Smith John instead of John Smith. Is there a way to get around this, or does it not matter since JAL will know I used their website (all ex-pats booking domestic flights in Japan must experience this?). Or do I need to call them and incur possible fees?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry I missed your question earlier. But here are the answers
1. Yes, you can book on jal.co.jp (Japan region website) with a foreign address. As a matter of fact, I bought one from that site about a month ago without problem. However, you might not see the charges on your credit card until a while later. It took 9 days for mine to appear and other people are seeing similar delay in posting as described in the following thread.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/jal-m...t-charged.html
2. You shouldn't have problem. They can tell which one is the first and last name. And they don't really check for ID on domestic flights anyway (shh...don't tell anyone )
While discounted roundtrip HND-OKA is priced reasonably, there are two fares designed for visitors you might be able to take advantage of to lower your cost. But you need to travel to Japan from overseas on a single roundtrip ticket otherwise you don't qualify. And there are of course blackout dates too. Below are the details.

Discount Mileage Promotion
Regarding your international award chart for flights on JAL, how does the discount mileage promotion work? Is it valid for awards originating in North America? The website mentions flights departing or arriving in Japan, but the award chart shows it in all regions, so can you please advise.

Notice there's a link next to the table that says "Click here for the required mileage of other sectors during the campaign period." and I have done a search (Asia 1 to North America) to confirm it does apply to other routes as well. A simple way to check is to login to your JMB account and search for awards on dates you wish to travel on. It will display the discount redemption option if it applies.

I'm flying SIN-HND tomorrow night which arrives at the delightful hour of 0550. I'm in J, so I believe I can use the arrivals lounge at HND under the current (extended) promotion. I know there are showers there, but what is the food like - enough to assemble a small breakfast, as I doubt there'll be one on the plane.
Cheers...

The sushi isn't part of the offering
I believe they serve breakfast on SIN-HND. At least the menu looks like a breakfast one to me. They also serve sandwiches as snack too.

Thanks for the info.
Do you mean dinner + breakfast, or just breakfast? If only the latter seems odd on a flight leaving at 2150 local...
