How do you find the seat width?
It seems like this might be a basic question, and even though it is not a mileage bank question, I thought those familiar with JAL would be kind enough to help me.
What I need to know is the seat width for business class. The flights I am looking at are JL062,(HND=SFO) shell flat neo and JL001(SFO=HND) shell flat seat. Maybe if someone just knows, they could tell me? I would also like to know how to find this information myself when I am searching reservations for flights, but I can not figure out how to tell from the information given on the reservation page. It says JL062, 777 (in light script) and 773 IIImagic in a shaded box. I went to seatguru to check, but I do not know how one tells if the plane is 777-200, 777-300, 777-400, etc. How does one know? Maybe it is the Boeing 777-200ER Vers.1 773? Is that what the "773" is? JL001 only lists 777, with the same shaded box. Is there a better place to check? Also, clicking on the "shell flat neo" link opened a new window with information about the seat, but I could not find the width. Thank you! |
Welcome to the JAL forum, purplezoe!
JL061/062 are LAX-NRT flights while JL001/002 are SFO-HND flights. Below are the info JL061/062 - 777-300ER - NEO seats - W82 config (http://www.jal.co.jp/en/aircraft/conf/777.html) - Seat Width: 19.2 inches - Bed Width: 22.3 inches JL001/002 - 777-200ER - Shell Flat seats - W51 config (http://www.jal.co.jp/en/aircraft/conf/777er.html) - Bed Width: 23.5 inches - Sorry I don't have seat width numbers. |
Thank you JALPak!
How is the bed width determined? Obviously at a different point than the seat width. I never would have thought of that. And besides just knowing ,where does one find that "300ER"/"200ER" part? For any flight I mean? |
The armrest width is added to the seat width as they together form a flat bed surface.
Which site are you using? Not sure about the international site. But for Japan site, on international flights, 777 = 777-200ER and 773 = 777-300ER |
I am using the co.jp/en/ site. I do not see any indication beyond the 777 and 773 to determine which kind of plane it is. Checking the seating on "seatguru", it lists several kinds of 777's, hence my confusion.
Are you saying if it shows 777, it will always be 777-200ER for that particular flight? And 773 always will be 777-300ER? |

The only pop up window I can find just shows the seating (when clicking on the flight number. The aircraft type is in light script below the flight number, but there is no pop up for it.
Oh- there is another one, but it is the "JAL shell flat seat", which opens up into information about the seat (which does not seem to include information about seat width though). |

I usually just use the Japanese version of the site. Some functions (like this one) is not available in the English version. I don't think you will find the width on JAL product page. |
