By the way, the Japanese press release doesn't mention maintenance outsourcing. It focuses on international and domestic network update. Maybe they will talk about that during the press conference...

Let me figure if I have enough miles to book Sorta planning a big trip over summer.

I'll just book an award C ticket and have them rebook me on CX.

I will not fly 767-300ER C seats waste of money/miles. Worst seats

I wouldn't mind CX seats tho

I might fly KIX-HKG one last time on JAL before it got axe during the summer. This probably will be my last time to visit KIX for international flight (or for domestic too if they keep ITM).

KIX-GMP is going all ECONOMY class. JAL will drop business class on this route. Reason (from official PR):
The aircraft configuration of Boeing 737-800 on the thriving Kansai=Gimpo (Seoul) route however, will be changed from a 144-seater to one with a capacity for 176 in order to capture the healthy demand on that route.
They really spin this in a nice way

Yup! V31. I wonder why they don't use the one with class J and charge a bit extra, say 2000 yen. I will pay for it

By the way, news started to come out. I wonder if there are any other measures announced during the press conference

JL KIX/ITM-NRT-HKG 16k miles
CX KIX-HKG, but won't qualify for the promotion will cost me 21k miles

all above is economy seating

So Nikkei's report of maintenance outsourcing is just a rumor for now then. I hope it doesn't come true. Last time when JAL outsource part of their maintenance work, we all know what happened (And the dark side outsourced theirs to the same Singapore based company and as a result, their oxygen masks didn't drop down )

Didn't I tell you that you have to route through NRT or HND. You just didn't listen

TBS news video report.

- Press conference started at 5pm Japan Time (2 hours ago )
- CTS-NGO and ITM-FUK are spared from the cut.
- CTS-HKD is added to the list

doesn't sound like they have other new info...

NHK news video. Don't have much new info either...they interviewed people though

JAL restructuring - route, equipment changes

Big news for OW and users of JAL longhaul services. Routes being suspended (e.g. NRT-GRU) and 744s all being retired this year. http://press.jal.co.jp/en/release/201004/001531.html
