Booking JAC flights

I have just booked a JAC flight on the JAL domestic web site (KIJ-ITM May 28). Some friends want to book the same flight, but it is no longer showing availability on the JAL site. I imagine that in reality it is wide open (hardly any seats appear occupied), but JAC does not show availability on Expert Flyer.

Does anyone know how this works? Are JAL likely to provide more availability, or can the flight now only be booked on the JAC site (which is not available in English)?

If you try to book on JAC website, it just links back to JAL website. I guess you are trying to get the super sakitoku and sakitoku fare, which are the only ones available for May flights right now. If those are sold out, you have to wait till other fare types are available for sale. JAL has only released other domestic fares till April 12 as of today, i.e. only allows 2 months advance purchases. So you will have to wait till either the sakitoku fares open up or 2 months before your flight to book your friend's ticket.

Thanks, that explains it!

Do you know whether at 2 months they ever open up any more super sakitoku or sakitoku seats? Otherwise the normal fares are twice the price (unless it happens to be near your birthday!).

No idea...but if your friend is flying to Japan on a OW carrier, you can buy the ticket for 10,000 yen + tax.

And you can watch the availability, right now JAL2242 and JAC2244 on April 14 only accepts waitlisting. Check back tomorrow to see if they open up :)

Edit: Just check, is your flight JAC2250? It is accepting waitlist booking for that flight if you use the Japanese website and is a Japan JMB member.

That was my first thought too - but unfortunately I found that it does not apply to JAC flights.

Yea I forgot you are on JAC flight :p But there are two JAL daily flights which you could have taken :p Maybe try the waitlisting if you could somehow apply for a Japan region JMB account.
