The FT staff was going to periodically police this forum to merge dupes.

I'm sure that is the case, I just rarely see it in action.

Perhaps FT staff could look in the various suggestions forums as well http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Jerry Garcia Nov 24, 2002 6:43 pm

Doesn't this belong in Suggestions?

Warrenlm Jan 4, 2003 9:49 am

FT staff have not had the opportunity to follow up consistently so I am bumping this title as we begin to post this year's itineraries.

Actually all we have to remember to do is change the time period in the "show topics" pull down in the upper right.

bump, we're working on creating 3 plus threads per month. Just need to change the "show topics" period to something long.

Sweet Willie... maybe you want to volunteer to be a moderator for this forum... Randy is always looking and FT Itineraries doesn't seem to be that "controvertial" of a forum

Dogstar Feb 19, 2003 9:39 pm

Probably been discussed before but just in case... can the Moderator(s) just not combine the accidental monthly threads?

Hmmm...

Cheers. Dogstar.

Can the moderator create the thread name and THEN DENY users from creating new threads but only allowing replies??

I looked at the documentation: http://www.infopop.com/products/ and it doesn't look like you can do this easily. You can cause posts to be placed in a moderation queue for approval if they contain a keyword. However I don't see any way to differentiate between a keyword in the subject and a keyword in the body of the text. I also couldn't find a "merge threads" command so the moderator would have some cut & paste to do.

How about a "Sticky Topic" ?

"Create a Featured Topic

A featured topic appears at the top of a forum’s topic listing, and remains at the top for as long as the admin or moderator desires. This function is sometimes also called “sticky topics,” and is useful when you wish to have a time-sensitive announcement appear in your forum, or to display permanent forum guidelines within the topic listing. A topic can be “featured” at any time, either when it is first created, or after it has already been posted".

Would be a nice feature for them to do in the future...

bump...if you don't see a month, set your preferences to display "topics from the last 100 days" or longer to make sure before you start a new month...

I know search is down, but as a word of advice, please assume someone has already started a thread with your month of travel dates before you start a new thread. Thanks.
