Can we agree to post dates with a standardized format?

Do you think we can develop a standard format for this? At least for listing the date.

If everyone does it the same way, whatever that may be, it will be a lot easier to search using the "find" feature of your Web browser.

e.g.

Month/day
xx/yy
08/12

or

day-3 letter month
12-AUG

I like to browse and see where people are going, but other times check and say, "I'm flying on Aug. 12. Who else is flying that day?" And then everyone is using a completely different format for posting their dates, so you can't just do a quick "find" of "08/12" or what have you.

Good suggestion Doppy-
One thought: I think we should use a three letter abbreviation for the month and then the day, to avoid confusion as certain countries use MM/DD and others use DD/MM. (I am guilty of doing this).

So maybe: AUG 13 for example.

Just a thought. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well.. can we?

I suggest either:

xxYYY

or

YYYxx

where xx = day
and YYY = month

Every time I try to do an itinerary search it's mostly sorting through garbage.

e.g. today I wanted to see who was flying on the 20th, so I searched for "20" which gives you 2004, every flight number with "20" in it, etc.

If we all agreed upon a universal format, it would be really easy to find who who's flying when and where. "20AUG" or "AUG20" would be very quick and easy.

My vote is for 20AUG - because then if anyone puts the year in it doesnt matter and wont cause problem with search.

Either xxMMM or MMMxx style works for me. I suggest that no spaces be used i.e. xx MMM or MMM xx.
