Vatican and Colosseum tickets

If planning to go to the Vatican and Colosseum in June 2025, do I need advance tickets? When I go online to purchase Vatican tickets, none are available on any day that I can see. Any tips on how to get tickets for these?

It is advisable to buy tickets for both in advance. I just had a look at the official site of the Vatican Museums (I think that's who you mean) and I saw availability.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. When you look at Wed. June 18 for example, what options are you seeing available for purchase?

Are you using https://tickets.museivaticani.va/home ? For June 18 I see regular admission tickets bookable, but tours are not. I'm not sure if it's too early to book tours through the Vatican, but I expect tour companies would offer them.

I also had a look and found availability without problems.

What do you select for "area"? I'm wanting to see the Sistene Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica for sure.

Hire a private guide. You only go there once. Front of the line.

Any suggestions for a private guide? Obviously I can google this but wondering if you had a personal experience with this since you offered the suggestion. Thanks!

There are no tickets for St. Peter's Basilica. It is free and the long queues at the entrance are due to security checks.
The Sistine Chapel is part of the Vatican Museums. As there are no separate tickets, you have to buy a museum ticket.
I wouldn't take a guide, I don't see the need for one. In any case, I think that only official Vatican guides are allowed.

We work with LivTours for private and semi-private tours.

Minor addendum: The lines to enter St. Peter's are also to enforce the dress code, and in June, on a hot day, it's worth noting that short pants (above the knee), short skirts, sleeveless tops, deep scoop necks, etc. are not allowed and that is enforced. Also, large bags and backpacks are prohibited.

Buy your tickets in advance directly through the websites. The tours buy the same tickets and simply put a markup. Plus if you buy in advance and they can't get tickets for the time you booked with them they will just cancel the tour.

For the Vatican you can buy a ticket for the Museum and a self guided audio tour (no tour guide). St Peter's Basilic is free. 2025 is Jubilee Year and everything will get crowded. I suggest getting tickets as early time as possible to be first in, and not stuck behind hundreds of people in tours or wandering around, or as late as possible as most people don't want late tickets. There are no same day tickets for the Vatican, you must buy in advance. There really is no "skip the line tickets". You will have a timed ticket and must stand in line for security and ticket/ID check. You will need to meet the dress code for the Vatican and have government issued ID (or recognized student ID) that matches the name on the ticket.

https://tickets.museivaticani.va/home I found single tickets available for all but 3 days in June. Book the Museum and Sistine chapel ticket. Almost all of the tour tickets are sold out so just buy=y the non-tour ticket and get the audio guide. It also means you are not obligated to stay with the other 20 people in the tour.

Colosseum tickets are even more important to buy in advance. They are only sold 30 days in advance. So everyone can only get the tickets 30 days in advance and that includes tour companies. You'll need to decide which part(s) of the coliseum you want a ticket for. Again you must have government issued (or recognized student ID) ID that matches the name on the ticket.

I doubt it, it's for the audio guide. The basilica remains free. The line is not for tickets, it's for security. And I never saw a priority lane.
