Rome to Milan With Short Stopover in Florence

Will be in Italy next week - flying into Rome, have a meeting in Florence in the afternoon then continuing on to Milan that night. Does anyone know if I can buy a train ticket from Rome to Milan with a stopover in Florence or do I have to buy separate tickets?

Grazie mille.

Pretty sure you'd buy those train tickets separately.

If you are traveling on the high speed trains (Freccia or Italo) you need separate tickets as seats are assigned and one makes a reservation for a particular train at a certain fare with various change restrictions.

You would have to buy those train tickets separately. The trip from Florence to Milan is about 1hour and 37min. I remember that I paid 24 euros to do that trip (one way without any stop), but it was two years ago so maybe now it will be more expensive.
