Florence this weekend

For those traveling to Florence soon the below video happened two days ago. They are thinking of bringing in the desperate boat immigrants from Northern Africa who have been floating up to the southern shores of Italy basically on overcrowded rafts, and who are being "sheltered" throughout Italy including in the outer regions of Tuscany, to clean up the downed power lines, glass, clogged sewers and other debris in Florence.

I wouldn't cancel my trip over it, but just beware. The main streets were flooded, there are tornado watches, and water in the Uffizi.

Yes, there was hail, flooding, tornadoes and extensive damage in Florence a few days ago, now it's been an intolerable 100F/38C and extremely humid. It's pretty unbearable in most cities in the summer, which is why most Italians close shop and go to the beach or to the mountains for a good part of the month. Visiting Italy in the summer, I would never choose Florence or Venice. There are way better places at that time of the year.
