Milano - AC Milan (Marriott) or Park Hyatt for 3x
Was hoping to have enough for a free Park Hyatt stay but that isn't happening so debating between:
AC Milan (Marriott) for about 100€ or Park Hyatt Milan for 300€ (and possibly a suite upgrade) The "vacation" side of me wants to check out the Park Hyatt, but the frugal side of me questions if it's really worth 3x. The Park Hyatt is also in a lot more centralized location, but again, lots of cab rides for 200€ difference. |
Hello MyTravels,
As we have a dedicated Italy forum, I'm going to move your thread over there to get more specialist attention. Please continue to follow this topic in the Italy forum. stut Co-Moderator Europe Forum |
AC Milan is a bit outside the center in the area near a train station and the big cemetery. You'll be near a Metro station that is only a few stops from downtown. The Park Hyatt puts you right exactly in the center of Milan next to the Duomo and the Galleria. If you're ok with a bit of commuting and the slightly grittier neighborhood you should be fine and can spend the 200 Euro a night (or some fraction) on great food, shopping and taxis. I can see the case for either place depending on your budget and how much you value a stay in the posh center versus what seems like a good business hotel.

If you're considering Marriott, you might want to consider the Marriott Milan on Washington. Rates can be good, neighborhood is nicer than AC Milan/train station. Hotel is comfortable.

a) No charge for a second person b) Actual lounge and/or breakfast is included for those with status c) Milan Marriott rates have come down (while AC's have actually increased) d) The AC Milan really isn't that close to the Central Train station (Stazione di Milano Centrale) [It is close to the Garibaldi Train Station, but we won't be needing that one] NOTE: Based on BKKLEE's comments in the Milan Marriott thread if I go that way I'll make sure to bring google maps printout for the taxi |
