Hi everyone!
After visiting Rome for the first time ever, we now have the Italy bug :D
Thinking of a weekend in Milan and really have no idea where to start.
We like a 4 or 5 star hotel pretty central and suggestions of great restaurants would be most welcome. What are the ''must do's'' of Milan?
Also which airport is the best to fly into? I LOVED Rome with all the desginer shops airside, does either airport in Milan have the same feel?

To me, the must-see sights/sites are:

The Last Supper (Cenacolo)
The Duomo
Teatro alla Scala and the Scala Museum

You can reserve an entrance time for the Cenacolo either on the Internet or (my preferred method) by calling - the phone call is processed by an English-speaking operator, and you get to bypass the booking section of the website, which sometimes doesn't sometimes-quirky website. For top hotels, I'd look at the Park Hyatt and the Four Seasons. Special deals and/or add-ojns are sometimes available if you book at these hotels through either a) a Virtuoso travel agent; or b) if you carry an AmEx Platinum or Centurion Card, book through the AmEx Fine Hotels & Resorts agents.

Linate is the more convenient airport. Malpensa is bigger and much farther out. Milan is a modern city for style and fashion, with the items noted by the previous poster as the main to-do's plus the Galleria by the Duomo. There are fine restaurants everywhere. I prefer the NH hotel chain (NH Milano Touring) - very stylish and more intimate in a very Italian style. Ask the hotel concierge for restaurant suggestions. The Metro system works well and is easy to use. One thing that's especially interesting is the system of old trams that are active in the city. San Francisco has aquired some of them and they are a nice way to see things. But there is very little to compare with Rome or Venice in terms of tourist interest. A visit to Lake Como is my preference - it's a quick ride from Malpensa on a train.
