SFO-FCO nonstop service

Just read about this, on A350 aircraft.

Alitalia never flew nonstop to Italy out of SFO. They did have LAX-FCO nonstop. The cabins were old.

Read a review of MIA-FCO in business. Competitive 1-2-1 reverse herringbone cabin, not a standout but it sounds much better than the old Alitalia business class.

Very good food quality but limited secondi offerings.

Kind of an interesting wrinkle for SFO but who knows how long ITA will be a separate airline.

Alitalia began service between Milan Malpensa and San Francisco in 1999. It was operated by a 767. The route was discontinued after a few years.

They actually announced this flight pre covid as Alitalia. This particular flight started at the beginning of the month and is running until December. When they bring back the flight next Spring, they will be using their new A330-neo on a daily flight.

As mentioned, Alitalia did service SFO to MXP. It started in 1999 and ended shortly after 9/11.

A350 to A330 is a downgrade or will the A330-neo have new cabins?

Well I'll watch out for fares now, instead of only going Star Alliance.

Actually nonstop service to Milan would be nice too.

With AZ eventually becoming part of *A, I am hoping to see the return of the ORD-FCO flight.

If they'd have nonstop MXP-LAX/SFO service, now that'd be great indeed. I doubt this will happen, though.

That is correct
2-1-2 recliner configuration in J
Flew it in June 2000-interestingly the connecting MXP-FCO was operated by a 744 that afternoon
Good ole times

Its an upgrade. As mentioned the A339 has brand new cabins designed after ITAs specification. The A359 was intended for Hainan Airlines but they never took delievery of those planes.
