I always got an upgrade to a nice corner Suite plus access to the Club Lounge, while booking the cheapest room category.
Lounge is one of the best in Germany. Very friendly staff and good food. Also the view towards Main River and the view towards Frankfurt Skyline is amazing.
The rooms are very dated though and there is some "old smell" in the corridors of the hotel. The outside of the hotel looks like a building from the communist days in Romania. I would suggest to give it at least a little colour.
The main restaurant is also very good and so is the whole staff.
My biggest complain is about the very old TV. I´ve been recently to the magnificant Crowne Plaza Brussels Airport. They have a giant Samsung and a digital system with some 100 programs from all over the world (even more than 10 stations from Dubai, some good for movies)

Dinner times in club lounge have changed:
Dinnner time now ends at 9pm instead of 10.30pm.
So now free meals when having a late flight arrival as I was used to

Not the newest place, but perfectly fine
I stayed at the IC FRA a few weeks ago for one night.
Overview: A solid but aging upper-mid-scale hotel located on the bank of the Main River
Strengths: Service, cleanliness
Drawbacks: An aging property with a location that is best called “CBD-adjacent”

I stayed here last night - here are my impressions:
Pro:
- probably one of the best beds I have ever slept on, mattress not too hard, not too soft - high quality bedding
- internet is free in the lobby and really fast
- location is great - just one block from main river bank and 5 minutes walk to train station and downtown area
- friendly but not extremely friendly staff
Con:
- Boy this place looks old and tired especially from the outside, carpets are very well used
- I was upgraded to a 'superior room' with Main view which was really small - think Japanese small
- gym has only 2(!) treadmills and one elliptical, weight lifting equipment must be 30 years old
- bathrooms are tiny - if you are of a bigger format you'll have trouble turning in that bathroom
Overal for a EUR 200 rate a pretty mediocre stay - great for sleeping at least

Package for your marriage proposal
The IC Frankfurt is offering a "package for your marriage proposal":
What I find hillarious is this:
It seems having a second adult with you for a marriage proposal is optional in Frankfurt...
They are quite fair with their cancelation terms, however:
"We know your plans can change..."
Rooms start at 286€ for single occupancy, btw, apparently without breakfast. Best flexible without this treatment starts at 122€ for single/double occupancy. 217€ for a 3course candlelight dinner for two, a bottle of champaign and some chocolates seems to be quite steep, me thinks.
HTB.
The package for your marriage proposal so that nothing is left to chance. Romantic 3course candlelight dinner, which will also be served in your hotel room if requested. Flowers and 1 bottle of champagne as well as a tasty chocolate after dinner treat.
Extra Person Charge: € 53.00 EUR per extra adult starting with the 2nd Adult
They are quite fair with their cancelation terms, however:
Terms and Conditions: Reservations and charge-free cancellations are to be made 2 days before arrival. Full prepay. 10 percent refund if cancelled or changed.

Any sensible person would run away after having a marriage proposal at IC Frankfurt...
