2000 Points needed

Hi all,

Im just over 2000 points away from renewing my platinium status and I was just wondering if there was any other way to get some qualifying points without a mattress run, I dont have the credit card and its too late to get one now.

Alternatively, do you think IHG would allow any grace if I got the points in early January, or is December 31st a hard deadline?

Thanks,
Anthony

Points bought are not elite qualifying.

You can't just "buy" Elite Qualifying Points.

Ambassador is the easiest method by far, especially given how late in December we are...

Otherwise a mattress run on a Bonus Point Package.

I would check out a mattress run with a Bonus Points Package. Bonus Points are elite qualifying.

If you stay at ICs it might be worth buying Ambassador, but if not then a bonus point package is the way to go. Depending on where you are based, these can be pretty cheap.

Apply Chase IHG premier to get platinum, you can cancel it the next year or you might get lucky to receive free Ambassador or 50k like some lucky people.

I suspect that antuk, BA Gold, is not in the USA.

I think I would book any cheap nearby hotel with a bonus points pacakge in the "dead" period between Christmas and New Year, check-in and leave.

Some people just cannot resist answering "get the credit card" without actually reading a thread.

However, the OP may not be aware that they wouldn't need to get the UK credit card before the end of 2019 and put spend through it. Simply getting the Ł99-per year IHG Rewards Club Premium Credit Card at any point in 2020 would return them to Platinum.

FWIW delaying the purchase of Ambassador until early 2020 might also get the OP 2 years of Platinum status.

So lots of non mattress run options.
