For me it says "Elite exp date: 12/31/2018". I'm currently Spire and have made enough nights (at least 10) to maintain "Elite" status next year. From the dates it doesn't follow that I will remain Spire through 12/31/2018.

Unsure what you're commenting on here. Are you familiar with the content of this thread and if so do you have any insight to add related to the question in my post?

AMB exp date: 01/31/2018
Spire exp date: 12/31/2018
In this case is there any reason to believe that renewing the AMB membership through 01/2019 wouldn't also extend the Spire status on the account until 12/2019?
Would there be any reason to process said AMB renewal in 2017 over 2018? 2018 over 2017?

It will extend your elite expiry date to 2019, however if you don’t make enough nights/points in 2018 to reach Spire there is a possibility your “Elite” status could be platinum or gold in 2019
The point HTB is making is that it only says “Elite expiry” as opposed to “Spire elite expiry”.
They sorted the issue where the Spire choice benefit was released when purchasing AMB so there is every possibility they have sorted the status extensions at the same time and until January when status rolls over we will not know.
The extension date would in theory be correct though as you get Gold when purchasing AMB anyway so in theory the elite expiry extension is correct.

The IHG member I'm asking for has already re-qualified for Spire this year and has a 12/31/18 Spire expiration date. *IF* Spire extension still works then anyone may be able to extend their Spire status until 12/31/2019 with an AMB renewal if their AMB membership year begins in January or later.
My question is (assuming the extension works as it previously did) would renewing AMB now *OR* waiting until 01/01/2018 increase their odds of receiving the extension until 12/31/2019?

Just renewed tonight with the 24k option (Spire expiry 12/31/17, Amb expiry 1/31/18) and now my spire expires 12/31/19 and amb expires Jan-2019. It did NOT trigger the 25k spire points option, of course.

I have no clue when my stuff expires or why, I just assume I'll always have it and they send me a notice when my ambassador status is time to renew.

My virtual membership card in the IHG app lists Spire Exp: Jan 31, 2019, actually, so not quite 12/31/19 (but better than 12/31/17 as it reflected previously!)

I just looked at mine too and perhaps I am just misreading it but I see that as the ambassafor expiry not the Spire expiry. But its good that the system seems to work lets hope it stays this way

Just tried the website at https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental.../en/ambassador
It tells me that;
“Your membership is due for renewal on Feb-28-2018. You can continue to enjoy all the benefits of InterContinental® Ambassador by renewing at our $150.00 USD annual rate, or you can renew today for 24,000 IHG® Rewards Club points”
When I click on “renew” https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental...bassador/renew
I just get into a never ending loop that just keeps taking me back to https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental.../en/ambassador
Any suggestions?
