Very interesting. This is the second or third report of something like this happening. Looks like they don't differentiate between award and qualifying stays, at least towards the "3 nights in different IC hotels" requirement. ^

RA Qualification

I also spoke to Ambassador Services this morning, who told me that only my qualifying nights at IC hotels count towards RA qualification. I'm sure I read differently on here somewhere?

I've got 41 nights this year to date, with Ambassador running to April 2010. I expect to get approximately another 20 nights before April 2010. My problem is that it is roughly a 50% split between CP and IC hotels, although i've stayed in 4 different IC hotels, all paid stays.

Could I qualify before my April expiry date do think?

Thanks in advance!

@BA038_Passenger: Yes since you have 4 paid stays at separate ICs plus 60+ nights in IHG hotels (I'm supposing they're all qualifying), you should have no problems re-qualifying for RA.

ALL IHG hotel stays count towards RA renewal, not just IC stays.

Thanks for the info.

The guy on the phone this morning, said only IC hotel stays counted! I guess this is a case of hang up and call again until you get the correct information!

I really hope I qualify, will be nice to use for leisure bookings as well as the all too frequent asia business trips!

I have a RA expiry of March 2010, have 60 qualifying nights in 2009 alone with another 20 nights on overlapping stays (use for business).

Around 55 + nights of the 80 in IC properties.

I emailed Ambassador service desk last week and they said they will be reviewing my account.

Is there a better way to get your account reviewed? i.e cal Ambassador services.

Surely I should have qualified? just need to know best way to get them to exted my RA account for another year.

Whats the Ambassador service desk number in UK again? Begins with 0870 i think

Staying in a Marriott tonight, Exec room in Bristol, only ICHG option was HIX, very poor and expensive at 100 per night, paying 145 for Marriott (standard room) upgrade to exec room due to gold status, overall an ok hotel, old ish but right in city centre and best option for me!

Requalifiy comes usually 3 months before the end of your current RA year. You still have few weeks (it should be renewed at the first week on Jan 10). From the numbers, you wrote can't see why you need to call and ask them to recheck (unless you got the famous letter from Ambasdor ).

As your report does not fit within the overall picture, may I ask you these two questions:

  • When did you choin PC?
  • You reported here, that you had three seperate IC says in April (there was a confusion within this thread, if a 2K Accelerator Bonus works for next or every paid stay at any ICs in 4/09) and mentioned that you paid for 56 nights at IC between 2/09 & 12/09: How many seperate paid stays did you accumulate at any InterContinental Hotels & Resorts (please don't count paid stays at other IHG hotel brands)?

I was shocked to receive an RA invitation in the mail last week! Here is my history:

Many years ago: Joined PC
May 2008: Joined Ambassador ($150) for the first time (exp. May 2009)
Aug 2008: Referred to RA by a kind FT'er; current Ambassador membership upgraded to RA (no charge) (exp. May 2009)
Feb 2009: Received downgrade letter
June 2009: Downgraded to Ambassador (no charge) (exp. May 2010)
Dec 2009: Invited to RA (exp. May 2010)

Qualifying Nights Towards Elite Status in 2009: 29
Total number of IC nights since Dec 2008: 24 nights (32 incl. non-qualifying)
Total number of IC stays since Dec 2008: 11 stays (16 incl. non-qualifying)
Total number of different ICs since Dec 2008: 10

It's quite confusing to review my account information, but from what I can tell, here is my record of IC stays:
Code:
Month Qual Stays/Nights Non-qual Stays/Nights
Nov 2009 1/1 2/3
Sep 2009 1/3
Jul 2009 1/3
Jun 2009 1/3
May 2009 1/3
Mar 2009 1/2 1/1
Feb 2009 2/4 1/1
Jan 2009 2/2
Dec 2008 2/6
Nov 2008 1/1
Oct 2008 1/2
Sep 2008 2/5
May 2008 1/1 1/1
Apr 2008 1/1
Feb 2008 1/3
I have other CP and HI stays, but these are the IC stays. Most of the stays were in different ICs, with only a few duplicates. Given this stay history I am at a loss to explain why I was given RA (if only for the rest of my Ambassador term), but I will try to make good use of it!

+1. My expiry date is also March, and my renewal for RA always hits in the first week of January. I will have about 90 IHG nights with about 50 of those in IC's -- I'm not anticipating any problem being renewed and will post if I do.

There certainly is no reason to have them reviewing your account before they make the initial decision, three months before the renewal date.

Looks like Santa paid me a visit a couple of days early. I was just checking my PC account, and noticed a RA line a few days ago.

I have 44 nights this calendar year, and I'd guess 38 or 40 Ambassador year that started in June. I have IC stays on 4 different continents, about 25-30% of my stays this year.

How many CP and HI nights did you have. This is also factored into your total number of nights for RA qualification

Just curious to know if you had any nights in late December, 2008 as these would have also been included in your total night count

Dec is not usually a heavy travel month for me. This month, I had a total of 9 nights, 7 at IC, 2 at HI. I don't think I can go back and look more than 180 days online. If I had any stays in Dec 2008, it wouldn't be more than one or two nights.
