I'm wondering how you are talking about loyalty and elite guest, when you sign up for a program which costs you 150 or 200USD. It has nothing to do with loyalty. Its also weird to compare yourself to guys like stimpy who is RA (and therewith have proven loyalty and lots of spend to IHG)
IHG have decided their elite membership can be bought, rather than earned through stays. That is how they have defined elite membership, not me
On a side note, I truly believe that neither hotels or airlines really value loyalty any more. Most elite memberships can be hacked via credit cards, cash payments or programs like Virtuoso and Hyatt Prive. Those program offer far more value for the customer, rather than loyalty to one brand

There is no comparison between a RA and an IC Ambassador. Obviously

I had been planning to take my wife to IC Le Grand Paris in mid-February for four nights, but I see they are doing renovation. For those who have stayed there lately, is the renovation very noticeable aside from there being a temporary lounge set up instead of the main Club Lounge? Does anybody have any photos of the temporary lounge? Is it noisy at all due to the renovations? Does the renovation mean that 2-category upgrades for RAs are unlikely? Thanks.

I was there for a few days in December. The lounge is anything but noisy, in fact it was almost too quiet. The ongoing renovations are virtually unfelt, once you enter the hotel.

2 night minimum stay restriction for 2x 1 night reservations
I have a 2 night stay booked on points, but having earnt a free night certificate, I've rebooked the first night using the cert. However, it seems a 2 night minimum stay is in place starting on the second night, which means I cannot change my original 2 night reservation to 1 night only (i.e. for the second night only). IHG Rewards can't do anything and they've tried to speak to hotel reservations to waive the 2 night restriction since I am actually staying 2 nights, just split between two bookings. Will any amount of HUACA with IHG Rewards or directly to hotel help or is it a lost cause?

Probably a lost cause, IHG corporate can not help here, control of this is purely under control of hosting IHG/IC Hotel. Same issue applies if trying to book combo of paid+award
(nb:- Is your; cert an unlimited freenight cert or RA freenight cert, as all current CC freenights are now being issued as capped 40K per night and IC-PLG is 70K night ?)
One and only possibility I can suggest is
a)rebook 2night award stay as before
c)book/keep freenight cert as first night
c)only now email IC-PLG reservations direct providing both IHG #nnnnnnnn reservation numbers and politely explain that for second 2night reservation on points you now only need the second night as the first night is covered by the freenight cert, but that due to minimum 2night stay , you can't adjust the #nnnnnnnn reservation yourself, but you are staying the 2 night minimum. and please could they adjust your continuation reservation to be just the second night.
The IC may do this for you, it is a 50/50 shot a best.
IC-PLG may still refuse because unscrupulous IHGers will ask to do exactly that with a 1night flex paid/2night award, and a week later (or worse just 3days before stay) cancel the flex paid night leaving them with a 1night award stay that where hotel needed a 2night minimum stay. If first night would be an ADR paid (non-cancelable) then more likely hotel will say yes. However your freenight cert is a flex booking, so opens up possibility of abuse regards your booking request.

As is Marseille and Bordeaux. In fact IHG is proposing a summer tour of the 3 palaces.

Seems the hotel opened just for Rafa Nadal during the French Open.
There’s a video on his Instagram that seems to be in one of their top floor suites.
The hotel also posted a vid welcoming Rafa. One day soon (late Dec) we too will be welcome.
