Recent Reward stay.

Took 15-20 mins to walk from SYD Domestic Terminal - returning out of SYD International Terminal which is a lot further so took the $6 shuttle which departed every 30mins.

Room and temperature were fine for an airport hotel - didn't use any of the other hotel facilities.

Used Mascot subway station to travel around Sydney tourist areas - it's 5 mins walk from the hotel and has trains every 6-10mins that take 15-20mins to central Sydney - there are also a couple of supermarkets and a few restaurants around the station.

Overall, felt it was good value for Reward redemption compared to other more central Sydney IHG properties given the short journey times to the centre.

Hi All
So sad that the Sydney airport doesn't have any luxury properties
How is Rydges compared to Holiday Inn?
It took the number one rating in Trip Advisor
Not that is saying something
Not much competition

Regarding the location of the HI, it's still there and you could for example take the train to the domestic terminal, leave your bags at the left-luggage, walk 20 minutes to the HI and walk back to the terminal again the next morning. For an international departure you could then take the train or a bus across to the international terminal.

Or there is that dodgy paid shuttle to/from the HI, hmmm, staying in the city and taking the train to the airport is probably quicker and more reliable. Plenty of hotels near Central, Museum and St James' stations.

Or you can stay at Rydges at the International terminal and walk across the street to the check-in.

I would not bother with the Rydges, it’s expensive for what it is. If you want the HI precinct the Meriton is great value
https://www.meritonsuites.com.au/our...street-mascot/ while the MERCURE is the old Hilton and OK. The Stamford plaza is the old Sheraton and another choice.
