Does this hotel offer anything for platinum members? Upgrade would be nice...

Is this hotel in a lively area? I need to research what exactly there is to do in this country!

I am debating in going to London or budapest at the end of December.

Thanks in advance

Spot on downtown location with fabulous views (riverside)

PC Plat or Plat Amb? From cheapest street side Plat Amb gets usually an upgrade to river view (DON'T get stuck in a street view - river view IS the way to go), RAs get double upg - either to suite or large river view room + club. I speak the lingo and still couldn't ever get "triple" upgrade from the excellent Club ladies

They have a non-suite suite (x11) which has separate bedroom and living room, both smallish. I often get this as a river-view room.

I can't remember what PC Plat gets.

The Club is excellent, they often have offers, ask by email beforehand - if you get for anything below 50, it's well worth the money (breakfast alone runs at 30 and with Club you can have b/f either in the Club or in the main restaurant)

Go to Budapest!

Thanks for the info! I am only PC platinum, but I could upgrade to ambassador before my trip....I have enough pts to do so. Essentially, i would be doing it for a room upgrade? If I remember, that's pretty much the main benefit of an ambassador....?

Budapest sounds fun....lot of good nightlife? Adult nightlife if you know what I mean? Lol

If you're into that scene, leave your SO at home

Amb - room upgrade, late checkout, free movie, fruit plate, wine bottle, etc, etc

I really liked Budapest and would recommend going there. Lots of good tourist stuff to see and do. The IC is well located and is quite a nice place.

Regarding the adult nightlife, I'm not sure if there are any strip clubs, etc in the area (Google is your friend, though) but I did get propositioned by a couple of "professional" women in the area near the hotel. They were pretty cool, though. They made their offer, I said "No thanks" and we went our seperate ways. No pressure, harassment, etc. They were dressed normally (not like stereotypical streetwalkers) and were NOT in the hotel. If that's your thing, it's there and easily found. If you're talking about other types of "entertainment" I'm not really sure.

A casino is situated next door to the IC Budapest and so the professional ladies are associated with the casino and not the hotel. And feel free to "buy" the professional ladies a drink but you may be the proud owner of a 100 Euro tab for the one drink. And Decembers are quite cold in Budapest... The area is perfect for walking but not in the cold.

It was actually in the area right in front of the casino that the girls (two seperate ones on seperate days) approached me. I wasn't sure if they were just "working the area" or whatever but they were definitely not inside the casino or working the bar at the IC. Not even sure if they're allowed in the hotel or if they're known to staff and have been banned, etc.

One of them wasn't bad looking but a) professionals aren't really my style and b) although probably mostly urban legends, I've heard too many stories about people being slipped a "t!tty mickey" etc and I don't want to wake up with a hangover and missing my wallet and laptop....

Well I didnt make it to Budapest in my last posts but this May I am finally going to make it there! Staying 2 nights. I am PC Platinum (non ambassador) and I am looking to stay here.

Anyone stayed here being a non amabssador member, and just PC Plat...any experiences?

I may stay at the Marriott since I am gold with marriott...hmmm

Hard choice

Both are good. I prefer the IC simply because of the treatment I get there as an often visiting RA.

Luckily I cannot remember a time being plain PC plat

At the Marriott while I still had their Gold I got club, which is also very good.

Staying this weekend - booked Superior River View room, have received Club access as an RA but upgrade is to an x11 room (very small bathroom and bedroom, seperate small lounge area with a sloping window) which seems to be the same room as I booked.

Happy enough, as the Club is great and the view is superb, but any regulars here know what sort of room that is? My booking is still showing the original room type.
