Pointbreaks Discussion Master Thread [merged]

Does anyone know how often they change the hotels offering Point Breaks at 5,000 Priority Club points? Are all the hotels changed every calendar quarter, or are some gradually replaced with others during the course of the year?

It looks like a when they feel like it type of thing.
Check often, it's a crap shoot.

I check it regularly with a software. No hotel was added in the last 90 days.

More than that, the list has shrunk in the last couple of months, from 80 or so down to 56.

FWIW, I keep an updated Google map of PointBreaks here: www.pointmaven.com/pointbreaks.

It seems that the Point Breaks list doesn't include all the hotels that have these discounted awards.

For example I will be in Phnom Phenh tomorrow and the IC seems to be going for 5K PC Points.

It seems that the "official list" is not up to date.
I made a little research & found the following properties in 5,000 points:

UK
HI Reading west
HI Milton Keynes

France
HI Paris st. quentin
HI PARIS-VAL DE BIEVRE

Belguim
CP Brussels Europa

Italy
HI Rome Fiano
HI TURIN-CORSO FRANCIA

Germany
HI BAUTZEN

Israel
HI Tiberias

Jordan
CP Amman
IC Aquaba

Egypt
CP SHARM EL SHEIKH

I'm sure that the list is much more than that.

I think PC didn't update the pointbreaks list to include all the new properties (but for whatever reason, they are updating it to remove properties...). For example, the downtown San Jose Crowne Plaza and the Anaheim West HIX have 5K redemptions though they aren't on the current list. BTW, these are the only pointbreak hotels within 50 miles of the SF and LA areas.

I don't see any availability past 11/07 though (for the 2-3 properties I checked) which is too bad because I'd like to book some for December.

If you read the other two main threads on this very subject you'd get a sense of how this seems to be operating. As it was only introduced in February, we are still figuring it out. The only thing we know for sure is that properties that show up do so at times of the year when their revenue bookings tend to be lowest and thus discounting on awards becomes practical to fill empty rooms and give the hotels a bit of revenue (that they get from PC).

Many thanks for posting this. I've been checking the list frequently for hotels in the Bay Area. After missing out on the Staybridge deal at SJC, I didn't think any hotels would show up in the area.

Has anyone found other locations in the US ?
Some locations that are still on the list don't accept Pointbreaks rates for dates in August.
