Crown Plaza Lyon

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book ...
Standard room at pointbreak rate

and which upgrade did you receive?
Superior Room (River view)

How are the rooms?
Very new and of good size. The bed is very comfortable.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Next to the Rhone river and Tete d'or Park. 15 minutes to Gare de Lyon by bus. Staff are very professional. As platinum was offered a welcome drink and tapas.

Bad: breakfast a bit expensive (22 euro per person). No exec lounge.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Value for money: For 5000 points per night it definitely is very good value.
Would I return: I don't really see why I would return to Lyon in the future, but if so would surely consider this hotel.

Don't know, but the highest floor was under renovations two months ago when I was there at CP Lyon.

I remember my stay was bad, did not get much of any elite bennies and they had several issues despite low load factor.

CP Bucharest is same as removed some years ago. I think from memory the in room fridge has some free drinks instead if the room is Club version. Even on award bookings you get upgraded to Club room there.

Got the 1-bed Suite upgrade on the next stay I made here, although I did first contact SBS using online form saying regrettably my next and remaining prebooked stay would probably be last as since initial stays upgrade to 1bed-suite (with bath) all further stays were to non-upgraded rooms without a bath, I was upgraded online with 48hours of my message.

They have 180 rooms, 9 floors (floors 4-12) with 4x full suites a floor, and which I really prefer as have baths (studio suites are shower only).

Mentioned/asked at checkin why my lack of upgrades to be answered
A)will only upgrade if stay max 4nights (well i only stay 2-3 nights and rooms always still showed online)
B) is because when we upgrade ihg.com does not reflect the upgrades and sells rooms we don't have (i don't believe that excuse)

Really considering my old favourite, the CP to be once again to be my primary hotel for future Birmingham stays now all booked ahead nights are used up.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum (RA)

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked:- Double Bed
Received:- Double Bed (1st floor of 3floors. Only one room type)

How are the rooms?
o Comfy DoubleBed with usual pillows choice & 2 seater sofa
o 32" lcd tv with all the UK free channels
o Well Lit, reading stalk-lights on bed headboard
o HIE Shower Only bathroom, Decent bath towels (size/thickness)
o Just 1-speed wifi, quite fast
o Tea/Coffee/kettle tray, with note to help oneself to extra in restaurant
o Limited storage like all HIE's, couple of shelves under desk (and no safe)
o No aircon here though
a)Wall mounted elec heater with 14-24 degree thermostat
b)Medium sized desk fan (I guess for the warmer summer days)

What was your welcome gift?
300 Points Voucher posted online day before checkin
Drinks voucher then also given at checkin (draft beers, Stella, Becks here)

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+ Friendly helpful reception staff
+ no upfront CC charge for room/deposit, told as platinum elite i just pay on checkout
(and I could still charge evening bar food to my room )
+ OK free (included) HIE breakfast
+ Nice ground floor , rest area, bar and restaurant , small bar-menu 6-10pm
(plus a pub with food right next door .. the only thing else near)

Bad
- Unlike the Airport Holiday Inn, no free shuttle. Local taxi is Ł5 e/w to train station for Trains/NEC/monorail to airport.
(Both HI + HIE are 1.5 or so miles from Airport/NEC but in opposite directions)

Value for Money/Points? Would you return?
Yes, especially for Ł29 with last (3rd) final sale. Normally starts from Ł49
(But if no car, add Ł10 for taxi from/to Train Station, although parking is chargable so cancels out )

HIX Grenoble Bernin

HIX Grenoble Bernin
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Ok

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard room and got just that.

How are the rooms?
Only one room type at this hotel. Typical European HIX room. Very small.
Comfortable bed
Only one type of pillows (and they don't match their soft/hard labels).

What was good and what was bad?
- No platinum recognition at all
- Location is in the middle of an industry park. There are no dining options at all, except the hotel restaurant
- Free parking
- Easy access from the autoroute

Value for € or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
This is not a hotel suitable for a stay in Grenoble, but for the adjacent industry park. It works well if a night close to the autoroute is necessary. However, there are better Accor options that at least have some dining options around.
