It is much, much further out, and basically, you would not easily be able to return to the hotel during the day.

Thanks so much for the advice, and I'm sorry for posting in the wrong place. The Grand Stanford-specific thread did not come up when I searched those words; I had searched only for posts within the last year, and no one seems to have posted in that thread since 2009. So when I saw "(Merged)" in the title of this thread, I erroneously thought it was about both ICs in Hong Kong. I'll do better next time.

HR TST is less than 10 min walk from the IC GS, and probably only worth the extra when you get room with a great view.

HR Sha Tin is in the middle of nowhere next to Chinese University of HK. Indeed close to public transport (University station) and just 2 stations from a large shopping mall in Sha Tin. However, to get into the city is still a fairly long ride in (during rush hours) very, very crowded trains. The property itself was underwhelming (hardware in particular) when we stayed there in 2010. Unless you want to explore the outlying islands from the ferry pier next door, I wouldn't stay there.

I plan on staying here this summer in early July. I have Platinum status and will get Ambassador membership for BOGO. That entitles me to get a free upgrade to the next best room. I want a room with a view of the spectacular HK Island skyline. The rooms on the website are: IC Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Harbour View Room, then suites and executive rooms. I want the Harbour View Room. I take it this means that I have to pay for Deluxe Room. Does this hotel have a reputation of moving people to base rooms for awards nights?

What is the issue of (I) raising the same question in a new thread and in the master thread and (II) being to lazy to read through the mastsrthread? All questions are answered more than once. The hotel has a very strict and transparent upgrade policy, it has a strict policy on what rooms you get on an award stay and even the website where you order the Ambassador status tells you on what rate you can use the voucher.

I don't charge by the word so let me be welcoming and concise, book a deluxe room to get an upgrade to Harbour View on revenue rates, on reward nights expect what you booked, enjoy.

What's the difference between a harbour view and deluxe harbour view? It doesn't give any details on the website with reagrds to what you get for HKG$207 extra.

I believe it is the size of the room. They have some really tiny rooms.

I'm torn between the IC and the CP: Causeway Bay.

It's about £500 more for the IC for 3 nights and not sure whether a view is worth that.
Never really use hotel restaurants etc so might be a waste in that respect.
Also, 2000 PC points for the IC Vs. 19200 for the CP could mean a free/cheap night somewhere.
Got nothing major status wise either.

That said, first time in Hong Kong, so not sure whether paying extra for the experience would be worth it or possibly just heading to the IC for a drink and taking in the view anyway?

Do any of the IC HKG rooms come bundled with club access or is the club always an additional supplement?

I want to use a BOGOF but for properties where club access is chargeable (e.g. IC London Park Lane) I try to book a room with inclusive club access when using the BOGOF as it reduces the cost of access to the lounge (and typically gets a much better upgrade).

When I booked last year, and used a BOGOF voucher, the Club lounge was charged as a supplement for the paid and free night.

Is there a way to score a "affordable" stay at this hotel? My absolute cutoff is at $250...I know it is low for this type of hotel but I love the reviews and the pictures.
Any suggestions?

@ $250 per night, no.

The reviews and the pictures are harbor view or better rooms w/ the USD $40 breakfast buffet every morning.

As noted in the previous post, Ambassador BOGOF is an excellent value at IC Hong Kong; but expect prices well in excess of the noted cutoff even with the BOGOF.

Just want to double check something.

Got no real status at present and looking at buying Ambassador memership for £132 approx ($200)
Planning a few days in Hong Kong so was looking at the IC for Fri/Sat to take advantage of the BOGOF certificate.

A deluxe room is coming in at £293/night advance (Friday).
Harbour £354.
Deluxe Harbour £375
King Deluxe Juinior Suite £457
etc + taxes

If I were to book say the deluxe room, would I be then guaranteed an upgrade or does occupancy affect this?
Would any upgrade from deluxe to be to standard harbour view room and harbour view room to the deluxe variant?

Or would it be better just to book the deluxe harbour view and go for the suite?
Expensive but averages out at £306/night (inc AMB cost).

What is the procedure with using the certificate as well (for this hotel and/or others if the same)? Mention it at the time of booking or just present it at check-in?
