A new season and a new IHG Accelerate promotion. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below:

For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)

For a task that says 'Stay X number of times at a Holiday Inn Express' (or Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc.) each stay must be at a different property for it to fully credit rather than staying at the same property multiple times.

An award stay only counts toward a task that specifically requires an award stay and will not count toward other tasks and night requirements for the purposes of the promotion. (Award stays do count toward general elite qualification, but that's outside this promotion)

'Redeem points' award nights only count for the 'redeem points' task and no other tasks. (example- an award night does not count toward 'Stay X number of nights')

At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.

Other than the tasks for redeeming points and point + cash reservations, tasks are generally very stackable. Enjoy the game of figuring out how to get the most out of the least amount of nights and money.

Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion. A 'buy points' task is a points transaction that is processed through points.com

The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.

Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

Yeah. Tasks that require you to use or buy points don't stack with the other tasks.

1. 5x diff't brands = 19.2K
2. 3x weekends = 7.2K
3. 1x points & cash = 4.5K
4. 2x stays of 4+ nights = 12K
Complete 4/4, 42.9K bonus.

Will likely only do 2 & 3.

One would think IHG would generate these targets based on recent stay patterns. This is considerably more difficult than my summer targets, which I will only barely complete next week.

Even more perplexing considering we are heading into slower months, one would logically think IHG would dangle a slightly juicier promo than the busy summer season.

Oh well, could be worse, those 1K offers are an INSULT.

Has anyone ever contacted IHG and tried to request changes to the offers?

One of mine is the typical 1,500 on Club credit card. I cancelled that months ago and only have the Premier card now. Does anyone know if that's considered the same for the Promotion? Ain't much points but an easy get just staying once.

I think you all need to wait until the 1st September has come and passed. There might be a few changes after then, given that on some blogs IHG has apparently said that the offers are not fully definite yet. On mine, when creating a PDF, I could see a lot of hidden offers including 2,000 points for one stay, 3,000 points for two stays, and so on.

Finally, one that is reasonable.

Easy one this time, though I wish that they would get around to posting the points for the previous (current) Accelerate promo...

They are in every promotion when you try to print the page. Only the ones they make visible on the web page count.

I do wish IHG would learn to create a web page that is printable. It's not just the Accelerate page, and it's not just the extraneous information, it's also the unformatted and overlapping text.

12 Weekends Again!
This is the third time they've given me that one making it impossible to get the Achievement Bonus.

Hope thats a typo!

That is pretty grim. I think I'd prefer the one stay for 1K than that.

I think what makes it worse is that each of those needs to have another night along with it. Out of curiosity have you ever done anywhere near that number of weekends in a four month period?

Even with the the achievement bonus that isn't that appealing.

I wish it was a typo!
The first time I got that task I had hotel stays all those weekends but, they were at Hiltons and boutiques.
The second time I was trying out IPrefer hotels so could have only done 3 weekends.
This time I'm not traveling much this quarter.
Crossing fingers that 3 strikes, they'll take the hint!

How is IHG now doing these Accelerate programs? Because I was "not eligible" for the recent one (April-August), like many others here were not as well. But then they sent me an Accelerate offer in late June for one which lasts 7/01 through 10/31. And is actually pretty good: around 50K bonus points for only a minimum of 5 nights worth of spend. I had gotten the BS "double points starting with the second stay" Accelerate offer for the one in first quarter. So, I'm happy with my current offer. Just confused as to how they are now offering Accelerate to members.

My current Accelerate, just finished:
8 Nights: 16,000
6 Brands: 18,000 (did IC, Kimpton, CP, HI, HIX, Even)
2 Crowne Plazas: 8,400
3 Weekends: 7,200
ICH card spend: 1,500
All 5: 51,100 more.
Completed.

My Sept 1-DEc 31 offer:
6 Different brands: 18,000
3 weekend stays: 7,200
1 points and cash: 4,500
Credit card spend 1,500
All 4: nothing extra.
Pretty pathetic.

If you're doing the July to October one, then you are not eligible for the September to December one. There's something in the rules about not being in concurrent versions of the promotion.
Quite why they have split into two groups this way is a bit of a mystery.
