A new year and a new IHG promotion. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below:
For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)
For a task that says 'Stay X number of times at a Holiday Inn Express' (or Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc.) each stay must be at a different property for it to fully credit rather than staying at the same property multiple times.
An award stay only counts toward a task that specifically requires an award stay and will not count toward other tasks and night requirements for the purposes of the promotion. (Award stays do count toward general elite qualification, but that's outside this promotion)
'Redeem points' award nights only count for the 'redeem points' task and no other tasks. (example- an award night does not count toward 'Stay X number of nights')
At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.
Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion. A 'buy points' task is a points transaction that is processed through points.com
The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.
Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

Does anybody have experience with "Book 1 stay(s) using Points & Cash and earn 4,500 bonus points. Points & Cash allows you to book Reward Nights with fewer points." If I book and then cancel. Would it still qualify for the promotion? Thanks!

My "Book 1 stay using Points & Cash and earn 4,500 bonus points" is now flagged as complete, foillowing a stay last month. However the 4500 points has not yet been added to my balance. Anyone else had the same?

Will staying at the Venetian in Vegas count as a brand? Is that under Intercontinental?
I have another promo in my IHG account along with the Q1 multibrand bonus...Book Direct, Return, Earn 8k...but it doesnt outline the details and I dont even remember signing up for it!

I have the offer: "Discover Our Brands - Stay at 5 brands and get 20,800 bonus points."
So I planned this out with my 5th brand being the Principal Hotel in Manchester.
But if I look at the terms, the Principal brand is not included?
"Number of bonus points listed above will be awarded after the required number of qualifying room nights have been consumed by the member at the required number of distinct IHG® brand hotels between 15 January 2019 and 30 April 2019 (both dates inclusive) at InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, Kimpton®, EVEN®, avid™, voco™, Regent® Hotels & Resorts or HUALUXE® hotels worldwide. My understanding is that they will become either intercontinental, Kimpton or I think Voco?
So for this task, would they count as their future branding?
Just wondered whether anyone has stayed at more than one of these properties and had this offer register them as separate brands?

4 Night Stay, 2 reservations, no promo credit :(
"Stay a Little Longer" task requires a 4 night stay. From the promo t+c: "....required number of Qualifying Stay(s) of a minimum of 4 consecutive nights between 15 January 2019 and 30 April 2019 ...."
CS Supervisor said the computer is correctly programmed to not allow a four night stay with 2 reservations back to back. She said to call back after the promotion is over and maybe they'd give me a one time exception.
I told her every hotel chain in the world defines a stay not by reservations but by consecutive nights at a hotel. I asked if I would get welcome amenity points 7 times if I booked 7 consecutive one night stays at a hotel. Obviously not.
From the IHG General Member t+c: 17. A “Stay” is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/check-out.
Why do we have to go through this every year (sometimes twice a year)? I don't want one time exceptions. I want supervisors who are empowered to use common sense, logic, and experience. We can't count on the computer programmers to correctly program all the promos.
Am I asking for too much?

6,000 pts - Stay More, Earn More: stay 6 nights

Promotion points are not posting
I had an email today showing my 'to date' earnings for the promotion. After I signed in, it properly showed my stays for each category but it did not reflect my completions. I called IHG CS and the agent corrected and assigned the proper points.

The "Stay 2 times" offer only posted as completed on my third stay... and now that it is complete, the "Complete 5 of the 6 offers" offers hasn't updated its completion percentage. I also had some of the progress going backwards temporarily.
I'll pin it on legacy IT systems and hope for the best!
