Wiki was copied from 2017 thread
Created WIKI Mar2017 purely to add the "new" IHG PB List URL as I can't find by screen navigation since IHG changed the reservation screens etc, and the old url if saved no longer works either.

Just got fed up trying to find , much easier to store in wiki, hope this helps others

Pointbeaks changed the amount of points needed: This is discussed in this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/intercontinental-hotels-ihg-rewards-club-intercontinental-ambassador/1890423-point-breaks-now-5k-10-15k.html

This thread is about the discussion about the locations and the actual list, please use the thread above for discussions about the increased number of points needed for pointbreak redemptions.

SCUBACCR

Use this URL for "Live" PB Listing:
https://www.ihg.com/rewardsclub/content/us/en/redeem-rewards/pointbreaks.html

The PREVIEW list usually appears on IHG's blog first

If the points thresholds had been increased but the list was still a miserable mass of motorway and airport hotels, then I can agree that it would be a devaluation. Doubling the offering and significantly increasing the premium properties on offer, is not a devaluation in my book.

We've all had our share of great redemptions. The standout must have been IC Stockholm maybe 8 years ago. That was 8 years ago, though

There have always been some good hotels that I couldn't book due to work or having already made travel plans. I can safely say that there were hotels I would have booked on every list if the conditions were right. I hope I'm wrong..we'll see on the next few lists..

Fingers crossed. We deserve a proper list.

From millionmilesecrets:

"But until we have the full list of participating hotels and their discounted award prices, I’m not sure we can say if this is good or bad. If we can still use 5,000 IHG points to book ~100 hotels (the same amount as before this change), I’d say this is definitely a positive thing. But if much fewer hotels are available for 5,000 points, I’d consider this a devaluation."

It's already been announced that there will be double the amount of properties on the list.

but the key as millionmilesecrets points out is how many of those will be at the 5000 point threshold.

It's a fantasy to not think this is a devaluation. I bet the number of properties priced at 5K will gradually decrease and the number of properties priced at 15K will gradually increase. Initially there might be decent choices in the 15K category, but a year or two from now, the choices in the 15K category will look similar to what we had on the last few lists (i.e. very few, if any, in desirable locations).

I expect there'll be some Kimpton's on there too.

I'll tell you what. Ignore the 10K and 15K properties, and you can pretend it's the same Pointbreaks that it's always been.

turner32 -will do so if the number and quality is the same as on past lists (over the next three or four lists) if not it's an obvious devaluation

not necessarily, in my opinion the next step is to raise 5,000 requirement to 7,500. And that level will stay for at least few years.

I see no need to go over 7,500 level unless another massive devaluation in the horizon.
